Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 may be the grandest game in the series yet, and there's a simple reason for that. The game does everything that made older Far Cry games good but adds new stuff into the mix. Far Cry 6 was released in late 2021 and has received a decent amount of praise from both players and critics alike.

Since it is one of the biggest Far Cry games ever, there is a lot to explore on the fictional island of Yara. There are tons of Easter eggs, fun gameplay opportunities, and, most importantly, unique (often well-hidden) locations throughout the game. However, only the best secret locations in Far Cry 6 are worth seeking out.

Updated on June 9, 2023, by Stephen LaGioia: As is the case with many Ubisoft titles, Far Cry 6 has seen a steady stream of notable post-launch content, by way of DLC and crossover events that harken back to previous FC games and other media like Rambo and Stranger Things.

But even when focusing on the core experience, the Caribbean island of Yara is brimming with things to do, places to discover — and cryptic secrets to uncover. And with so many hidden locations yet to be explored, we decided to revisit and flesh out this list of hard-to-find locations and focal points made for experts. Warning: This contains minor spoilers.

19 Game Over: A Subtle Aliens Reference

Far Cry 6 split image of underground bunker chickens and Bill Paxon Aliens

Being relatively short, many side missions are a great opportunity to go exploring and perhaps find some hidden places or details. One such quest is the mission Spur of the Moment, which holds an amusing reference to 1986's Aliens. Dani must check out a secluded bunker that oddly holds genetically modified chickens.

When exploring further, the scene resembles an iconic scene from the sci-fi thriller, and Dani is heard saying the heavily-quoted line by Private Hudson, "game over, man" when descending into a cave.

18 A Cat Island Paradise

Far Cry 6 secret cat boat island up close of a cat leaving boat standing on rock

Revisiting a staple Ubisoft easter egg, players can come upon a small island off the East coast of Valle de Oro's Barrial region. It is on the far North-East corner of the map, on the east side of Tormentoso Bay. A tiny island on the south end of a string of islands features some cats on a boat.

As it's rather off the beaten path, it can be tricky to reach by boat or plane. However, one fairly close way is the Ruben Airstrip Pickup, a way to the northwest of the cat-inhabited island.

17 A Rare Unicorn Appears

Along with finding a powerful light machine gun, the MG42, players can obtain a fun bonus — a unicorn mount with this secret. This amusing, but tricky, Treasure Hunt is at the Torrest Warehouse in northern Sierra Perdida, El Este. The Treasure Hunt is named 'Sweet Fifteen'.

  • Players will need to explore a storage bunker, locating four different switches by walking across the walkway above ground level.
  • Drop into the room that's locked from the outside via a chain-link door to activate one switch. Head across to the other side and follow the electric-charged wires.
  • Go up the stairs and find a small control room with another switch.
  • Players can utilize the Furioso Supremo to dodge the electric wires and reach the button which turns off the electricity, allowing access to the third switch in the caged room.
  • Jump back on the elevated walkway to the other side, into a small attic area, where the fourth and final switch will be.

The result will be a mini-party scene with some celebratory flair, and an open door leading to the coveted Unicorn. Rather, it's a horse vaguely made up to look like a Unicorn, but it's still a neat find!

16 A Parting (And Explosive) Gift

Far Cry 6 split image walkthrough of Parting Gifts treasure hunt with electric grid, open door, and scoping aiming at lock through fence

One of the trickier Treasure Hunts is A Parting Gift, which sits on the eastern side of Conuco, and a bit north of Sombreado Gorge.

  • Players will need to push the red generator left past the building (or hook in and move it with the blue pickup truck), and into an area with electric boxes and a hay roof.
  • This will power the grid in the area, allowing Dani to progress and turn a water pump to put out the fire in the building.
  • Once in the building, shoot a small lock on the other side of a room through the chain-link door with a fan. This will open a hatch and allow Dani access through the roof.
  • Players will then get a key, leading to a bounty of treasures, including one of the best grenade launchers, the MGL-6.

15 A Glowing Trinket From Indiana Jones

Far Cry 6 Indiana Jones reference in cave man holding glowing orb

One of the many references Ubisoft subtly tosses into Far Cry 6 is a nod to the iconic adventure franchise Indiana Jones, specifically Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Players should engage in the Treasure Hunt called The Emerald Skull, which can be initiated in Conuco, on the eastern side of Concepcion. Dani will be directed to a cave with a small, skull-like opening.

After grappling across some obstacles, players will notice a deceased man cradling a glowing green "unlucky skull." They'll also find a note on a small table nearby with candles and a skull addressing Dr. Halfman; a nod to an adventure novel protagonist which Indiana Jones itself used as a template for its star adventurer.

14 A Secluded Supercharged Weapon

Far Cry 6 Supercharger Shotgun location split into screens of Yara map, containers on water base

There is no shortage of explosive weapons to obtain in Far Cry 6. One fairly well-hidden one, known as the Supercharger shotgun, is worth going out of the way to seek out. The weapon is a unique, powerful variant of the SPAS-12 Shotgun, with a suppressor that makes it a great stealth weapon.

  • To find the Supercharger, players should head to the northwest tip of the map to Cobre Shores (Aguas Lindas region), where they'll find a small island, or rather, an industrial area on the water.
  • They can opt to fight through this area on their own or take on the Diesel Daisy operation from Philly in Madrugada, which also covers it.
  • Once they are able, players should explore the GDP Oil Platform and pick off any guards in the way. Next, they'll need to seek out a large blue shipper container, which sits under a large crane in the southeast area of this platform.
  • Dani will first need to lift a nearby container using the crane, the controls of which are inside a white building in the southwest part of the platform.
  • After the container has been moved, an open crate on the upper level can be accessed. It contains the Supercharger as well as a few other goodies.

13 Vaas Chibis

Far-Cry-6-Vaas-Chibi-Statue-1

There are more than a few callbacks to the fan-favorite Far Cry 3 and its memorable villain Vaas — especially from the Vaas: Insanity DLC. One of several collectibles within this added content is the adorable Vaas chibis that can be found scattered throughout the map.

Players will need to locate all ten and shoot at them, which provides the "Puff, Puff, Vaas" Trophy/Achievement in FC6, as well as granting a Lil Vaas bobblehead for Dani's car in the main game. While this sounds pretty simple, this can be a rather tricky scavenger hunt. This is because these items are quite small and often perched atop high, distant areas or other well-hidden spots — and waypoints are absent.

12 Hidden Text So Small Players Need A Sniper Scope

Far Cry 6 Small text on plaque looked at through sniper scope

This one serves as a small, yet amusing Easter egg, which can be sought out at the FND Special Forces Base on the northern shore. To find it, players should head to the armory, where they can find a framed blue and orange jersey. Just underneath the jersey is a gold plaque with tiny text printed on it.

While the text on the bottom looks quite small and illegible, players can look at it using a scoped sniper rifle to read it. Ironically, it reads, "this text is so small, and you can't read it." Checkmate, Ubisoft!

11 Joesph Seed DLC Secret Ending

Joseph: Collapse is the third DLC pack released for Far Cry 6, and it proves to be particularly intense. The content features roguelike gameplay where players take the role of the cult leader of Eden's Gate. Players will gather three pieces of his broken cross to gain "Penance", and explore his twisted mind as well as his past.

This memorable trip forks into a few possible endings, including a somber "secret" ending, which ends on a far more personal note. This is initiated when completing the DLC on the highest difficulty.

10 Mesozoic Park

Far Cry 6 - 10 Hidden Locations Only Experts Found - Jurassic Park Location

It seems like Ubisoft has honored the great Steven Spielberg by creating their version of Jurassic Park in Far Cry 6. Mesozoic Park is a location in Yara that closely resembles the park's gate from the famous movie. Though the reference also extends to its name. Mesozoic denotes the era that comprises the Jurassic period. Hence the in-game park is more or less the same.

The easiest way to find the location is to talk to Lola in the main guerrilla campsite and play the Special Operation named 'Mesozoico.' Players will be blown away by the attention to the details of this lush park.

  • This mission involves stealing a chemical weapon crafted by Anton Castillo called PG-240X.
  • Players should avoid as many guards as possible, until obtaining a key from an FND Commander. This allows Dani to nab the PG-240X, which is in the visitor center of the park.
  • Players will need to retrieve the weapon and keep it in the shade so it remains cool, staving off guards in the meantime.
  • Dani's reward for completing this Jurassic mission will be the Decontaiminant Jacket, along with some Moneda.

9 A Real Haunted Cemetery

Far Cry 6 -ghost pointing at wall near gate

There is a ghost in Far Cry 6, and players can find it in Santo Amaro Cemetery, on the southeastern portion of the map, south of Concepcion. This location has a mausoleum where players will find a note that tells them to come to the area at night. If done right, players will spot a ghost that will point them toward unraveling a mystery.

Following the spirit will lead the players to another note that tells them to go west of Casa Dario. No spoilers, but there is an interesting surprise waiting in this secret area. This encounter is one of the best short side stories in Far Cry 6.

8 Far Away From Yara

far-cry-6-secret-ending-dani-on-the-beach

Like the last two games, Far Cry 6 gives players a chance to (technically) finish it within the first few minutes. Players have to complete the mission Libertad Rises and get to the cutscene with the boat.

Once reached, players can use their ship to sail away to the edge of Yara's map, which will unlock the hidden ending. While this location isn't entirely accessible, it is a secret location that players can trigger through a cutscene. Dani Rojas sits on the beach outside Yara in the cutscene, drinking ice-cold beer while the news suggests that the war has ended.

7 Boomer's Location

Far Cry 6 - 10 Hidden Locations Only Experts Found - Far Cry 5's Boomer

Believe it or not, the player-favorite Boomer from Far Cry 5 returns in the sixth game. The beloved companion is easy to find once players access the 'Boom or Bust' mission, where they'll find a note that says, "some crazy American paid us to ship the dog." First players will have had to complete the Meet Maximas Matanzas mission. The former dog companion will be residing in the town some distance north called Feroza.

RELATED: Far Cry 6: The Emerald Skull Treasure Hunt Guide

The note will also refer to a shipping container that has Boomer in it. Now all that is left to do is reach the crate and free their dog. Upon releasing the dog, Dani will name it "Boom-Boom," a clear reference to his old name, 'Boomer'.

6 Brugmansia's Location

Far Cry 6 - 10 Hidden Locations Only Experts Found - Far Cry 5's Flower's Location sitting on green table

There are a number of fun references to be had from the past few Far Cry entries in particular. One comes in the form of the Bliss flower pot, which showcases the logo of Joseph Seed's Eden's Gate cult from FC5. Players can find the hallucinogenic flower sitting on a table in the mission, The Seeds of Love, and interact with it.

After doing so, it will trigger very 'Bliss-like' hallucinations similar to the last game. Players will see a woman dancing comparable to Joseph Seed's sister, Faith Seed. There are certainly many parallels between Lorenzo's child Riel and Faith, as players see from the similar gestures. Also, it is interesting to see that the flower made it to Yara.

5 Jason Brody's Dead Body?

Far Cry 6 - 10 - Hidden Locations Only Experts Found - Jason Brody Dead Body with poster of Jason

While bringing a few answers, Far Cry 6 brought some new questions too. Especially related to Far Cry 3's Jason Brody's apparent death. While it is not certain this is Jason, the dead body does closely resemble him.

Players can easily visit this location right after landing on the beach in the beginning. The body is lying on the beach and has a similar blue shirt and cargo pants. The only thing that is extremely off is the lack of tattoos. But is it possible that Jason was never tattooed and imagined everything that happened in Far Cry 3?

Far Cry 6 - 10 Hidden Locations Only Experts Found - Starlink Battle For Atlas Location

Ubisoft has referenced yet another game in Far Cry 6, and this time their Star Fox-esque space shooter, Starlink: Battle for Atlas. To visit this location, players must be on the Treasure Hunt, Cache Money, and get into the bunker situated in Aguas Lindas. It's on the eastern side of Oasis Plains, just south of a peninsula that juts north.

Within this bunker is a room that contains a note talking about the not-so-famous Starlink: Battle for Atlas. Right next to the message is an actual replica of a ship from the game.

3 Head In The Sand

Far Cry 6 Vaas head coming through cement ground

Most Far Cry 3 players will remember the famous artwork of Vaas and his obsession with burying people in the sand.

The game revisits this emphatically in Far Cry 6, and players can visit one location that lies on a beach between Corsario's Cache and Burros Bay (Cape Santa Maria region). Players can search for the elevated sand in the area and shoot the bucket off to reveal the head underneath.

2 Willis Huntley's Dogtag's Location

Far Cry 6 - 10 Hidden Locations Only Experts Found - Dogtag Location

There is a hidden dog tag (which is rather easy to miss), and players can find it in the Guerrilla hideout. Once they reach the location and acquire it, players can use it on their weapons.

The dog tag says, 'Willis Huntley, O POS SDA." Not only does it belong to Willis, but later in the game, players can also overhear McKay having a chat with the man on the phone. Which suggests he is still alive and well.

1 Assassin's Creed Viewpoint

Far Cry 6 - 10 Hidden Locations Only Experts Found - Assassin's Creed Reference looking over plant

Far Cry 6 has an Assassin's Creed waypoint close to Cayo Seguro Peninsula, east of the path leading out of Montesinos Lagoon. It is yet another attempt from Ubisoft to bridge all their video games' universes together.

Not only can players visit this location, but upon reaching, they will hear the familiar sound of Ikaros. There's also a carefully placed haystack right under the main location. Players can try a leap of faith and see if the physics of Assassin's Creed work in Far Cry 6 as well. It might prove just a bit more dangerous in this game, however.

Far Cry 6 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
