There are a number of high profile games releasing later this year, but Far Cry 6 is one that many in the gaming community have been looking forward to for some time. With a brand-new setting and villain, along with some changes to the series' formula, Far Cry 6 is looking to impact fans in a considerable way. However, it may be some time before those fans get to see the game in action.

After Ubisoft delayed the release of Far Cry 6 into 2021, many fans began to wonder when they could expect more news regarding the game. There hasn't been much by way of official news for when fans can expect Far Cry 6, let alone see any gameplay. One fan reached out to a lead game designer asking when fans can expect to see gameplay, and they actually received a response.

Far Cry 6 game design director Ted Timmins responded to a fan who goes by Boris on Twitter by saying the studio needs more time to work on the game, but also mentioned it has some "exciting content to show." As of right now, there's a lot of Ubisoft games that deserve an update in terms of their ongoing development, but in a lot of ways the lack of information regarding Far Cry 6's development could be a blessing in disguise.

If last year's Cyberpunk 2077 taught the gaming community anything, it's that video game development is a difficult process that needs a great deal of time, consideration, and focus. Far Cry 6 is a seemingly ambitious project that looks to outclass the games that came before it, and at least in terms of video games, good things can come to those who wait.

For instance, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was delayed a full two years and went on to become beloved by many in the gaming community. Game directors, such as God of War (2018)'s Cory Barlog, share the mentality of only releasing a game when it's 100 percent completed. That could very well be the current situation in terms of Far Cry 6.

With any luck, Ubisoft will have something substantial to share with its fans regarding Far Cry 6 soon. It seems unlikely that gameplay will take much longer to showcase. Then again, it also took several years before Halo Infinite's gameplay was revealed. With Far Cry 6 presumably releasing later this year, it seems likely that gameplay will be available sooner rather than later.

Far Cry 6 is currently in development.
