Since Far Cry 4, numbered entries in the franchise have offered fans an alternate ending. These are interesting for fans, even if they know it’s not a real ending and fans will continue on with the game after. For these endings, players only need to play Far Cry 4 for about 30 minutes, Far Cry 5 for about 10, and Far Cry 6 for roughly an hour or so.

There’s not much depth to these; they are alternate options that essentially lead to alternate universes. Perhaps the best modern-day analogy is that these decisions create variants, like seen in Loki and the titular character's dealings with the TVA, where entirely different decisions are made, but they are not part of the proper timeline. Of course, these games have multiple real endings too, but no matter what, the alternate endings are pretty straightforward. NOTE: POSSIBLE SPOILERS for Far Cry 6 are detailed below.

Far Cry 4 Alternate, Secret Ending

Early in Far Cry 4, players will meet Pagan Min and be left alone in a room to eat. This is where the story picks up after Ajay leaves, but if players choose to wait 15 minutes, Pagan Min will return. He’ll explain his relationship with Ajay’s mother, what Ajay’s father did, and show Ajay where his half-sister’s memorial is so he can put his mother’s ashes there too. The end implies Ajay and Pagan Min then team up against the would-be allies in a normal Far Cry 4 run.

Alternatively, there is a second alternate ending in Far Cry 4. As Pagan Min flies off at the end of the game, players can take out an RPG, shoot him down, and later return to loot the crashed helicopter.

Far Cry 5 Alternate, Secret Ending

Early in Far Cry 5, the player will need to arrest Joseph Seed and must press a button to do so. Waiting, instead, for a minute or two will see some commentary from Seed, and then the Sheriff will essentially say it’s not worth it. Arresting Joseph means they won’t leave alive, implies the sheriff, and then they just leave. In comparison to Far Cry 4 and even the new Far Cry 6, it’s not the flashiest alternate ending.

Far Cry 6 Alternate, Secret Ending

Unlike the past two games, Far Cry 6’s alternate ending takes a little longer to kick in. Players will need to complete the entire intro where they try to escape to Miami, end up assisting Libertad, and take out Castillo’s warships. At this interval, players will have a boat and can either take it or join Libertad. Taking a boat and sailing toward the edge of the map unlocks this ending, where Dani makes it to Miami safe and sound. They are shown on a beach, while the radio details Libertad’s failed attempt to defeat Yaran dictator Anton Castillo.

Far Cry 6 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
