As promised in Ubisoft's teasers for the E3 2021 Forward event, Far Cry 6 fans got a chance to take a closer look at the upcoming game. With the next main installment in the franchise arriving in just four months, it's time for fans to start getting a closer look at the upcoming title.

Like many 2021 titles, Far Cry 6 was originally scheduled to launch earlier this year, but was delayed due to the pandemic's impact on development. The original February 2021 release window is in the past now, but things seem to be right on track for the new October 7 release date.

The Ubisoft Forward 2021 showcase offered a closer look at the game's setting and what players can expect when they make the journey to the island paradise of Yara and cross paths with the dictator Antón Castillo, played by Giancarlo Esposito.

"Let Antón Castillo teach you a dictatorship lesson... With his 13-year-old son Diego following in his father’s bloody footsteps, Antón has the future of Yara clenched tightly in his hands."

The trailer offers a closer look at some of the game's characters and reveals hints about the narrative. After things go south during an escape attempt on a fishing boat things quickly take a bloody turn as Castillo appears. It's no surprise that Esposito's performance seems to immediately elevate Castillo to the same hyper violent and terrifying level of the franchise's other villains as he portrays Castillo in a dramatic encounter with his son. The footage makes it clear that Castillo's son wants to break away from the father's cycle of violence, but Castillo is not interested in letting him off the hook so easily.

After the new cinematic trailer, the press conference also went on to confirm rumors and leaks from earlier this weekend that suggested the game's DLC would bring back iconic franchise villains Vaas, Pagan Min and Joseph for players to take control of. The Far Cry 6 Season Pass will, for the first time in franchise history, allow players to take on the role of villain. As the leak suggested, players will be able to step into control of Vaas Montenegro, Pagan Min and Joseph Seed as the post launch content rolls out later this year and into 2022.
