As with previous installments in the franchise, Far Cry 6 has the protagonist uniting as many people as are available to fight against a near-immortal tyrant. However, unlike the prior entries, the job is much more official this time. This is, after all, a political uprising, and uniting opposing political factions is never easy.Far Cry 6 does a good job of making each one feel distinct and memorable. Gaining these allegiances is appropriately difficult, but knowing a little bit about each one can help Dani understand more about the path to victory when they all unite.Warning: This guide will try to avoid major game spoilers, but discussion about the members and their goals might ruin the mystery for some readers. Use personal discretion.
Each faction is filled with character, charm, and strengths.Libertad
- Notable Members: Dani Rojas, Clara Garcia, Juan Cortez, Julio Velez, Lita Torres, and Lola
Libertad is the unlikely leader among each of these factions. It's not the biggest group or the most well-supplied. Clara Garcia, the leader, is not the most vocal or the most well-organized. So why is it that Libertad takes center stage? Because they freed the province of Isla Santuario and the other rebel factions need their help.
To do this, she sends Dani Rojas, her best guerilla, even in her own words. Dani's fighting prowess speaks for itself. By the end of the game, it's uncommon for Dani to have personally racked up anything less than several thousand kills.
Juan Cortez is an ex-KGB spymaster who has participated in overthrowing several governments. Aside from his lessons for guerillas, his biggest contribution is keeping Dani supplied with amazing and upgradable Supremos capable of overthrowing an empire.
Fuerzas Nacionales De Defensa
- Notable Members: Anton Castillo, Ana Benetiz, Jose Castillo, Maria Marquessa, Sean McKay, and Edgar Reyes
Anton Castillo did not gain prominence by surrounding himself with incompetence. As the leader of the Fuerzas Nacionales de Defensa, there is a good reason that all of his friends united under his ideological banner. He keeps them stocked with enough weapons and propaganda to quell anybody who tries to resist.
General Ana Benetiz keeps Castillo's military on point, locking down every possible tactical vantage point. General Jose Castillo, the nephew of Anton Castillo, has no issue with cruelty so long as it gains favoritism for El Presidente. And Maria Marquessa acts as Minister of Culture, spinning anything and everything to make Anton Castillo look like anything but the monster he is.
The Fuerzas Nacionales de Defensa are well-funded and well-populated. It would take pages to list every member with a name in the game; they're in charge for a reason. But Dani has the potential to kill many of their notable members and find a hole in their vast defenses.
Familia Montero
- Notable Members: Carlos Montero, Camila "La Espada" Montero, Alejandro Montero, Philly Barzaga, Miguel Delgado, and Elvis Carballo
While no faction is without its problems, the Familia Montero in Madrugada have the most inner demons to face. Several of them have betrayed the cause and others are content to surrender. Patriarch Carlos Montero is passionate but unwilling to accept the outside help he desperately needs.
Dani's way of getting into the family is by impressing his daughter, Camila "La Espada" Montero, who remains dedicated to fighting against Castillo. Explosive expert Philly Barzaga is perhaps the oddest character in the whole game, but his creations can help destroy an anti-aircraft cannon or two.
Helping out the Monteros is a big deal because the Yaran government is a banana republic based on their special strain of tobacco, which is largely grown in the region of Madrugada. Crippling their economy is no small part of the equation to make a successful revolution.
Máximas Matanzas
- Notable Members: Paolo de la Vega, Talia Benavidez, Paz "Bicho" Duarte, and Matías Alonso
Máximas Matanzas feels like the most lost cause. Founder Paolo de la Vega wants to leave for America to pursue music. This puts his extremely toxic relationship with Talia Benavidez, who is often accredited with founding the entire revolution, at odds.
Though reeling, they are the best hope in the Valle de Oro, a province largely tasked with lacing the tobacco plants with "medicinal" chemicals. It's this region that gives Yara its best publicity, though it's rife with slavery.
Bicho, the sidekick to the power couple, sees an opportunity to turn Castillo's propaganda against him and aims to found his own Radio Libertad station with Dani's help. Uncovering some secret areas in the region can help Dani better understand why the world needs Máximas Matanzas more than ever.
Legends Of 67
- Notable Members: El Tigre, Lucky Mama, Lorenzo Canseco, and Karlito
As is the case with many revolutions, the victories are often short-lived. The Legends of 67 won a revolution against Anton Castillo's father, killing him, but sadly the region returned to despotism after the Legends of 67 grew tired of fighting and retired to the mountains.
El Tigre, the apparent leader, reached out to Clara Garcia because he's finally ready to rejoin the fight. Unfortunately for him, fellow Legend Lucky Mama is more interested in natural medicine than returning to war.
The poet that inspired the common men of the region to revolt, Lorenzo Canseco, made some poor decisions after the war and is still hoping to reach out to all of his children, scattered throughout the region. The region itself, El Este, manufactures hallucinogenic poison and it is a vital resource for Castillo's army.
La Moral
- Notable Members: Yelena Morales, Jonron, and Gilberto Rosario
The anarchists of La Moral are the most passionate and willing to dispose of Castillo, but there are two major problems. The first is that they see Clara's push for democracy as another form of oppression. Second, their violent ways have given them a bad reputation.
Lacking official hierarchy, Yelena Morales is the tactician who usually gets the best results. Her explicit revolution is executed by soldiers like Jonrun, who is always happy to find a battle. She's got more subtle methods of espionage, too, and chameleons like Gilberto Rosario have a surprisingly large and organized network of information and sabotage.
If Dani pushes the issue, Clara will reluctantly allow some cooperation with them. Unlike the other friendly factions, La Moral outright refuses to join Libertad, but they are open to cooperation until the despot is dealt with.
Far Cry 6 was released on October 7, 2021, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
