As evidenced in our review of Ubisoft's latest entry in its long-running first-person shooter franchise, while Far Cry 5 may not actually offer much in the way of ideas that are new to the series, the game does effectively streamline the property's open world formula and manages to deliver of the best entries yet. Now, in order to celebrate the imminent release of the title, the publisher and developer has decided to introduce fans to the chaos found within its fictional Hope County setting with a launch trailer.

As seen in the video below, Far Cry 5 fans are given the task of sparking a resistance movement in Hope County against the Eden's Gate doomsday cult, with players having plenty of armaments at their disposal and companions to help lead the charge. What's more is that the launch trailer acquaints players to the first-person shooter's antagonists of the Seeds – Jacob, John, Faith, and their father, Joseph – with the family intent on ruling the area by fear, violence, forced drugging, and other nefarious tactics.

In addition to the main campaign's story elements, Far Cry 5 will also offer fans a Season Pass that will include three expansions that respectively involve the themes of Vietnam, Zombies, and Outer Space later on down the line. What's more is that the base game includes a map editor so that players will be able to create new and different competitive game-types so as to extend their time engaged with the title.

Taking all of this into consideration, it will be interesting to see just how well Far Cry 5 fares in sales, as the series has managed to find itself in a bit of a slump as of late due to many criticizing FC4 as being too reminiscent of its direct predecessor, and Primal lacking a certain charm as well, despite its prehistoric twist. At any rate, we will simply have to wait and find out what the general consensus is regarding the game once it officially goes live tomorrow.

Far Cry 5 is set to launch on March 27, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
