Far Cry 5 offers the player a whole palette of skills and abilities to tailor different playstyles. With a total of 50 unique unlockable skills, all those can be obtained to make the player stronger. Those skills are divided into different perk packs. The Survivalist, Renegade, Assassin, Prepper, and Leader.

Each pack with their own set of skills is fitted to particular scenarios and builds. Despite this variety, there are some perks that are more useful than others. Some even more fun to use than the rest. Some, more prioritized. Here are 10 of the best skills in Far Cry 5 ranked.

10 Parachute

Far-Cry-5-Parachute

The parachute allows the player to descend from a towering height and land safely on the ground. Besides cushioning the player from the leg-crushing impact, the parachute also grants feather-like mobility; allowing the player to gently land down. Far Cry 5 is filled with hills and mountain ranges, making the parachute a very useful first perk in the game.

In addition to this, a player can infiltrate an enemy outpost by silently descending on them with the parachute. The parachute may not the best perk for aerial maneuverability, but at the cost of just one perk point, it is a good start nonetheless.

9 Health Boost

Far-Cry-5-Health-Boost-Skill

Starting out in Far Cry 5, the player is provided with just two health bars. A couple of shots could take him out; rendering him unusable in battle. In just adding one additional health expansion, which is what each upgrade of Health Boost does, this perk exponentially amplifies the player's survivability.

Doing so will enable him to approach things more aggressively, and take more worthwhile risks. Buffing up the player's max health makes more room for error and experimentation. However, as useful as this can be, the perk is very bland and generic.

8 Repair Torch

Far-Cry-5-Repair-Torch

This perk provides the player with a device that can fix vehicles, and silently crack open safes. The trusty "repair" torch is useful in case a truck breaks down mid-journey. Also, it's used to open safes without making loud explosive noises. This makes it a versatile tool for earning money and fixing stuff.

Though useful in conjunction with a weaponized vehicle, the repair torch is constantly used for anything but fixing. Players set forest fires with the repair torch and use it as a mini-flamethrower weapon; making for some hilarious YouTube content.

7 Sneaky Sprint

Far-Cry-5-Jess-Black-Crouched

This perk allows the player to move faster while crouched. In a game like Far Cry 5 where stealth is important, sneaky sprint comes in handy considering that the player would be mostly crouched when infiltrating. This lets the player quickly move in and out of cover in case he's about to be spotted. It makes stealthy mobility possible, thus, adding to the sneakiness of the player.

Sneaky sprint can also be used offensively such as quickly lurking up to an enemy to take him out. This is one of those perks that once used, gameplay won't feel the same when it's removed; making it a solid early perk option in the game.

6 Rifle Mastery

Far-Cry-5-Grace-Armstrong

Rifle mastery increases reload, aim, and switch speed for snipers and assault rifles. It also reduces sway and bullet spread for both weapons, making them more accurate. For the player's character to be proficient in the two most widely used weapons in the game is a huge upside in combat.

Everything that puts a delay on firing such as reloading, aiming and switching weapons is hastened. This lessens his windows of vulnerability, thereby increasing his survivability and lethality. The increased accuracy is a nice add-on as well; making it one of the most worthwhile perks in the game.

5 Additional Holster

Having an extra slot for another weapon diversifies the player's approach, and makes him more versatile to different situations. Ideally, the player should have an effective long-range weapon such as a sniper, and a versatile weapon such as an assault rifle.

Having an extra slot can allow the player to equip a totally different weapon. Take, for example, an explosive weapon such as a rocket launcher. Or a heavy tank weapon such as a flamethrower.  Doing so will take an already all-around player, and add some much-needed specialization to his arsenal.

4 Leadership

Far-Cry-5-Sharky-and-Hurk

The leadership perk allows the player to bring two gun-for-hire companions with him when on a singleplayer. This doubles the firepower and doubles the versatility when engaging in combat. With two guns-for-hire, a player can mix-and-match from the nine available companions to tailor to the desired approach.

Boomer, the reconnaissance point dog, goes well with Jess, the assassin, for a stealthy deadly approach. Hurk the explosives freak and his pyrotechnics cousin Sharky have wacky interactions and even crazier combat styles. The leadership perk not only makes gameplay more fun but provides a bit of personality to it as well. This doesn't add anything to co-op, however.

3 Grapple

Far-Cry-5-Grappling-Hook

The grapple ability from Far Cry 4 comes back as a perk in Far Cry 5. The grappling hook can be used in some areas in the world to reach higher points. Aside from climbing, it can also be used to swing the character across large gaps like Tarzan or get him some huge jumps.

When used in conjunction with the wingsuit and the parachute, it can hurl the player into the air, setting him up for optimal gliding position. At the cost of just one perk point, the grappling hook is an extremely useful utility for mobility. It also brings back some familiar gameplay mechanics, making it one of the most must-have perks in the game.

2 Takedown Mastery

Far-Cry-5-Death-From-Above

Like the grappling hook, takedown mastery is another Far Cry staple ability. It increases the range at which the player can perform a takedown with the added functionality of chaining takedowns together. This allows the player to instantly eliminate multiple enemies at once, and in the most badass way possible.

The player can slash an enemy's throat and use that body's sidearm in killing another enemy in range or do so more silently with a throwing knife. This ability is both effective and iconic of the Far Cry series. It's one of the prime abilities players must aim to unlock. But, as useful and incredibly fun this is, it isn't as nearly as fun to deploy as the next item on this list.

1 Wingsuit

Far-Cry-5-Wingsuit

It's not a Far Cry game if there's no option for a wingsuit. This ability is the most fun to use out of all the abilities, and also one of the most useful. Lost in the untamed rural areas, a wingsuit is the best way to get around the steep hills and river valleys. It requires little altitude from the ground to get it to work. A player can jump, and immediately deploy this to glide at insane speeds downhill.

The player can traverse great distances by jumping off cliffs and mountains as well. No vehicle needed. Only costing four perk points, this is a first-priority must-have for all players. The parachute is a pre-requisite in obtaining the wingsuit. Using the two in conjunction with each other leaves no limits to the player's aerial descent.
