‘Far Cry 4’ Director Clarifies Multiplayer DLC Confusion

By | 2 years ago

When Ubisoft first announced Far Cry 4‘s Season Pass, and its bevy of content, most gamers were intrigued by the prospect of taking on Yetis in the new open world title. But, there was some confusion with multiplayer.

Because Far Cry 4‘s Season Pass included a multiplayer mode called Overrun, a few gamers were apparently confused as to whether that was the game’s only PvP element. They knew co-op would ship with the retail package, but competitive multiplayer was not explicitly stated.

Thankfully, Far Cry 4 Creative Director Alex Hutchinson has come forward to set the record straight. Yes, Far Cry 4‘s multiplayer will come with the $60 game and the DLC mode is just an extra bonus for those who want to pay for the $30 Season Pass.

Oftentimes when a developer announces one thing without acknowledging another there is confusion, and this was the case here. So far, Ubisoft has not had too much to say about competitive multiplayer in Far Cry 4, and so when they revealed PvP content for the Season Pass it left a lot of question marks. Some wondered whether the Overrun mode was the only PvP option for the game, while others simply didn’t understand how multiplayer would work. Luckily, the Ubisoft developers are active Twitter users and so they were quick to respond on social media.

That being said, if Ubisoft had already said more about Far Cry 4‘s multiplayer then there wouldn’t be any confusion. It’s a bit strange to think that Ubisoft is already talking about Season Passes and DLC when they haven’t fully unveiled Far Cry 4, but that’s another issue.

However, with less than a month until Far Cry 4 hits we expect to see more of this multiplayer in the coming days and weeks. Ubisoft has done a solid job of setting up the world of Kyrat and introducing players to its colorful characters, but there’s clearly still a lot of work left to be done. So stick tuned to Game Rant for more Far Cry 4 info leading up to release on November 18th.
