Despite the negative press that is surrounding Ubisoft regarding Assassin's Creed Unity, the publisher still has two more high profile releases slated for 2014. Next up is Far Cry 4, yet another sequel that hopes to build off the strong reception carrying over from its predecessor.

With Far Cry 4 only a few days off from release, Ubisoft has decided it best to unveil the game's launch trailer and hopefully turn some of the attention away from AC Unity. Check out the trailer above for an 8-minute journey through Kyrat.

While most launch trailers give a cursory overview of a game, this Far Cry 4 trailer is far more substantive. It features a closer look at all of the game's systems, features, mechanics, characters, and mixes all that with some stylish flair. This is, essentially, what fans want out of a new Far Cry game.

For those who may not have been following along, Far Cry 4 puts players into the shoes of Ajay Ghale, a Kyrat native who has returned home. Upon arriving in Kyrat (a fictional town in the Himalayas), Ghale discovers that a ruthless leader named Pagan Min has asserted control and decides to shake things up a bit.

From there, the game goes into full blown Far Cry mode, with players deactivating propaganda towers, taking down Min's outposts, and causing all sorts of mayhem along the way. There will also be a suite of colorful characters for players to interact with and procure missions/items from, like Longinus.

Ultimately, Far Cry 4 looks plenty chaotic and worthy of the franchise name. It seems to up the ante as far as the explosive action quota is concerned, and it looks much better running on current-gen hardware. But, with the troubles facing AC Unity, it's hard not to wonder what's lurking right behind these admittedly impressive marketing materials. We're still eager to play the game, there's no question about that, but whether or not Far Cry 4 will build on the promises of FC 3 is yet to be determined.

Do you plan on buying Far Cry 4 next week? What elements are you most excited to see in the new game?

Far Cry 4 releases November 18, 2014 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
