We travelled to Ubisoft Montreal to check out Far Cry 3 and what its single-player campaign will offer gamers that they've never seen before. While yesterday's new Far Cry 3 trailer offered a cinematic introduction to the game's story and main character, players want to see what the actual game looks like in judging its aesthetic and style.

Read our Far Cry 3 preview to find out what the game is really about, but a picture is worth a thousand words and we have ten thousand worth of new screenshots below.

Battlefield 3 earned a lot of industry attention for what it accomplished thanks to the Frostbite 2 engine, from groundbreaking lighting effects, seamless vast open areas and slick animations which detail what it looks like from a first-person perspective to attack someone with a knife or to vault over an object.

In Far Cry 3, those first-person interactive elements are taken to an entirely new level where not only are those same movement and melee attacks rendered with fully visible first-person animation, but players can dive off of ledges into water and see the hands go forward as they fall to the water and transition from air to the depths of the ocean. There's even a built in-cover system which sees protagonist Jason Brody holding weapons in different ways depending on his orientation against objects.

For the good look at what some of the actions in Far Cry 3 look like, check out these new screenshots:

Far Cry 3 is an open world shooter, loaded with RPG elements from crafting and leveling up. It's a game that features a main storyline that can take players upwards of 20 hours, beefed up with a large variety of side quests and areas to explore. But most of all, Far Cry 3 is a harsh and gritty shooter where players can feel the impact of the weapons and what they can do to the environment.

Note the zipline, boat and the truck screenshots - these are but a few forms of travel on the island of Far Cry 3. Players will be able to utilize numerous methods of transportation - including hang gliders - while also have an easy and accessibly fast travel system.

Wildlife and plantlife are a big part of the world of Far Cry 3 as well and players will encounter sharks in the ocean, lizards near caves and boars among the brush, with all sorts of herbs and flowers everywhere in between that they can harvest for resources.

The scientist-looking fellow in two of the screenshots is Dr. Earnhardt, another insane member of the game's cast of crazy characters. There are nearly a dozen main characters like Earnhardt and the infamous Vaas who players will encounter, work with or battle against during the game' story, along with plenty of supporting characters.

Stay tuned for more details on Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 3 will releases on September 6, 2012, for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
