When Marvel Studios finally dropped its Phase 4 release trailer, viewers were ecstatic to see the Fantastic Four emblem flashed at the end. Now, John Krasinski has weighed in on the legion of fans who want him to portray the leader of Marvel's First Family, Reed Richards.

The highly-anticipated Fantastic Four reboot was first announced by Marvel boss Kevin Feige back in December 2020, but updates on the project have been relatively scarce since then, with no official word from the studio on any important developments for the film. Naturally, to fill the void, fans have been engaged in much speculation about the film's possible storyline and cast, and such rumors continue to persist today on social media.

Krasinski and Emily Blunt, his wife and co-star of the Quiet Place films, have been popular choices for the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. In a recent interview with Uproxx to promote the release of A Quiet Place Part II, Krasinski made it clear that he has a genuine interest in the Fantastic Four role. His exact words were, "Hell yeah, I'd love to play Mr. Fantastic," while adding that he wanted to email Feige himself and apologize if his enthusiasm has put any pressure on him to actually make it happen.

Unfortunately for fans, Blunt has expressed that she is not interested in playing Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (or starring in any superhero role) at the moment. Talking to Howard Stern, she looked back to when she turned down the role of Black Widow, saying she would have loved to work with Robert Downey Jr. but ultimately felt that superhero movies were just not for her. "They're not up my alley. I don't like them; I really don't," she said.

Fan castings for Reed Richards and Sue Storm have flooded the internet over the past few months. While some fans would like Ioan Gruffudd and Jessica Alba from 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four to reprise their roles, an even greater number are still hoping that Krasinski and Emily Blunt are chosen to play the MCU versions of the characters. In fact, the fan-driven campaign to get the A Quiet Place stars cast in the film has been so prominent that some people have even released Deepfakes of Krasinski and Blunt in the roles to make the dream casting seem all the more convincing.

As much as Krasinski would be perfect for the role, it still remains unclear whether Marvel will approach him for it. Jon Watts, the director for the MCU Fantastic Four reboot, has remained tight-lipped on any casting developments, but fans are still hoping he takes their pleas into consideration. If Krasinski is hired to play Mr. Fantastic, it would be bittersweet to see him on the big screen without Blunt by his side as The Invisible Woman; but one out of two would be better than nothing.

The Fantastic Four reboot is currently in development at Marvel Studios.
