Anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films would be aware of Dumbledore’s Army. However, a newly released Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore featurette confirms that the army that fans had come to love over the years wasn’t the first one to come to the wizard’s aid. With the help of the producer, director, and stars of the upcoming film, the featurette explains the origins of Dumbledore's First Army.

The approximately three-minute-long Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore featurette was shared by Warner Bros. on their social media channels. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at the different characters in the film coming together for a common cause. The cast and crew compare the act to the formation of Dumbledore's Army in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. While they don’t have the official title, their mission seems quite similar - defeat the enemy, while working alongside the legendary wizard Dumbledore.

Fans of the Harry Potter franchise will remember how the protagonists Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley got together with some other integral characters in the franchise to support Dumbledore against the evil forces of Voldemort and his minions. The Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore featurette recognizes their efforts, but introduces fans to the members of Dumbledore’s First Army, Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander, Jessica Williams' Lally Hicks, Victoria Yeates' Bunty, William Nadylam's Yusuf Kama, Callum Turner's Theseus Scamander, and Dan Fogler's Jacob Kowalski. Director David Yates refers to the group as “a band of outsiders who come together to perform this mission.”

The mission is simply to save the world from the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. “Every single one of them is an outsider that doesn’t really belong, but does belong as part of this group,” Yates adds. Each of them has a unique personality and a skill set that makes them extremely powerful when brought together as one unit. The only issue, however, is that most of them are not aware of Dumbledore's ultimate plan, and have to go off of trust.

Along with an official introduction to Dumbledore's First Army, the Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore featurette offers glimpses of some never-before-seen footage. Fans can spot some new whimsical creatures, magnificent action sequences, and some epic fight scenes. With the film’s premiere just a month away, it seems like the promotional drive is full steam ahead.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore premieres in theaters on April 15, 2022.
