Blizzard has only recently revealed details about the content for the upcoming World of Warcraft update. Patch 9.2 "Eternity's End" has no official release date yet but is set to play an important role as the end of the WoW: Shadowlands story saga. With no news on when to expect the patch to drop, fans seem to have taken to creating their own entertainment based on the MMORPG. One such fan even created their own version of what a World of Warcraft mobile game might look like in the future.

Fan-created content is not anything new for World of Warcraft. Being one of the longest standing MMORPGs in the world, WoW has lived through, and possibly influenced many gamer generations. With each new expansion, or new lore that is introduced to the community, content such as World of Warcraft character cosplay, fan art, and player-made creations will often be found online. With rumors that actual mobile versions of the game are in development, it is not surprising that fans will take inspiration from the news and create what they think would be their vision of a World of Warcraft mobile title.

To showcase what they think a World of Warcraft mobile game would look like, artist Ohpinel shared a short video clip of their original creation on the game's subReddit. The footage takes the viewer through the initial faction choice, then through a stylized but comprehensive version of the World of Warcraft character creation. Finally, once character creation is done, the viewer is given a short snapshot of what the mobile game's user interface and in-game visuals would look like.

Many fellow fans complimented Ophinel's creative work, and the original poster mentioned that they worked as an illustrator. They used the creation of the mobile game visuals to challenge themselves to illustrate something bigger, and that the whole video took them more than a month to complete. Other user replies on the thread focused more on poking fun at Blizzard's penchant for microtransactions, and some comments noted their expectations that most content will be time-gated, or locked behind in-game purchases.

Nevertheless, Blizzard has already confirmed that two World of Warcraft mobile games are already in development. The development team has not mentioned anything else since the announcement, leaving fans to wonder about the titles' progress. With everything that is happening within the company, hopefully the devs will share more details about the project, and give fans something to look forward to in the future.

Two World of Warcraft mobile games are currently in development with no known release date yet.
