Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been bringing back tons of classic Call of Duty maps through post-launch updates, but there are multiple maps still stuck in the past. Some of these maps were great in their original games, but there are a few that would lend themselves nicely to Modern Warfare's mechanics and pacing if they were to be reimagined for a new age.

Shipment, Crash, Vacant, and Rust, some of the most famous Call of Duty maps of all time, have already made their way into Modern Warfare, but there are a lot of other locations that are strong contenders for remakes for a future update.

10 Highrise

One of the most iconic Call of Duty maps of all time, Highrise is home to many Modern Warfare 2 players' fondest memories. Set on the roof of an urban skyscraper, Highrise would provide a wonderful change of scenery compared to Modern Warfare's many rundown warzones and war-torn city streets.

The rooftop itself allows for close-quarters engagements, while those equipped with snipers and marksman rifles can hang back and take pot shots from vantage points in the windows. There's also the crane, where trick shots, clips, and montages are born.

9 Estate

For a map that was as popular as it was in 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it's a surprise that Estate has never been remade or reimagined for any other mainline Call of Duty title since. The other appearance Estate has made in the past decade was a tropical version of the map, aptly named Estate Tropical, that was released in the China-exclusive Call of Duty Online.

Estate's combination of long sightlines in the open forest areas and the close-quarters interior of the titular estate would make for varied and interesting Modern Warfare multiplayer matches. Objective-based game modes like Search and Destroy or the upcoming Demolition would play like a dream on Estate, and the lush forest setting would provide a nice change of scenery compared to Modern Warfare's other multiplayer locales.

8 Terminal

Terminal is a map that needs no introduction. It's not only one of Infinity Ward's finest maps, but one of the greatest Call of Duty maps of all time. Originally appearing in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Terminal has gone on to appear in every Infinity Ward developed Call of Duty game since, barring 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Just because it's already been remade a few times doesn't mean it shouldn't be reimagined for Modern Warfare. It's been released for so many Call of Duty games because its layout and map design work so well across multiple scenarios, and just because Modern Warfare has a different style and pace than its predecessors doesn't mean Terminal wouldn't fit right into the map rotation.

7 Favela

call of duty modern warfare favela map

Another Modern Warfare 2 classic, Favela doesn't get enough love as some of the other popular maps from the same game. Unlike other Modern Warfare 2 highlights, Favela has only appeared once since its debut appearance in 2009, being remade for 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Favela deserves better, and a reimagining of the map for Modern Warfare could give it another chance to be in the spotlight. Modern Warfare loves urban environments, with many of its current multiplayer maps pitting players against one another in war-torn city streets, and Favelas' mixture of open alleys and claustrophobic interiors would fit the game perfectly.

6 Skidrow

So many maps from this list are from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 because Modern Warfare 2's map selection was just that good. Skidrow isn't as famous as Rust or Terminal, but it's still a classic in its own right. Practically every Modern Warfare 2 player remembers the streets of Skidrow fondly, and it's a shame that the map has never made another appearance outside of its Modern Warfare 2 debut.

Modern Warfare's maps tend to feature either long sightlines or close-quarters engagements, rarely a mixture of both, and Skidrow would help alleviate that problem. The halls of the apartment building could make for exciting close-range encounters, while snipers and marksmen could keep an eye on the open streets.

5 Bog

For a map that is iconic as it is to the Modern Warfare franchise, it's a surprise that Bog has never made an appearance outside of the original Modern Warfare. Bog would appear in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered nine years after its debut, but that's not saying much considering that was a full-on remake of the seminal first-person shooter.

Bog is a Modern Warfare staple, and it has a good chance of making its way into the newest Modern Warfare because most of the maps added to the game post-launch have been remakes of popular locations from the past.

4 Invasion

Much like Skidrow, Invasion is another fan-favorite map that hasn't appeared in any other Call of Duty title since its debut in 2009's Modern Warfare 2. Invasion feels like it could have been lifted straight out of the newest Modern Warfare, abiding closely to the same design philosophy as most of the game's maps.

Invasion also has the best chance of making it into the game of any map on this list. The map is technically already in Modern Warfare, hidden out of bounds on the unpopular Euphrates Bridge map.

3 Dome

Many of Modern Warfare 3's maps don't get a lot of love, but Dome has always been considered an all-time classic. So many of Modern Warfare 3's maps blend together, but Dome stands out mostly due to its iconic architecture.

Dome has gone on to appear in every other Call of Duty games since Modern Warfare 3, which gives it a decent chance of appearing in Modern Warfare. The popularity of Rust, Shipment, and Shoot House has proven that Modern Warfare players want more small maps, and Dome would be the perfect new addition in a future season.

2 Overgrown

Overgrown would be an excellent addition to Modern Warfare, if only to provide a change of scenery. The lush foliage would be a wonderful breath of fresh air after hours of fighting in dilapidated buildings and rundown city streets. Overgrown is a Modern Warfare staple, appearing in the original Modern WarfareModern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare Remastered.

Overgrown is perfect for long-range engagement and sniper battles, something which Modern Warfare is lacking in currently. Marksman rifles tend to get outplayed often on other maps because they can't take advantage of range, and Overgrown would give them a chance to shine.

1 Arkaden

Another map hailing from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Arkaden would feel right at home in Modern Warfare because of its layout and theme. Many of Modern Warfare's maps are set in urban locations that are familiar to everyday people, like Piccadilly Circus, and Arkaden's shopping mall environment would make for some interesting firefights.

Arkaden hasn't gotten as much love as other maps, with most Modern Warfare 3 nostalgia being attributed to Dome, so having this map remade for Modern Warfare would give it another chance in the spotlight.
