The Pokemon series has been running for more than two decades. The franchise has spawned eight generation of games with a ninth on the way, as well as a handful of spin-offs. Pokemon has cemented itself as a major pop culture icon and is a series that will be around for years to come.

Baldur's Gate is another series that has stood the test of time. The Dungeons and Dragons based RPG first released for PC in 1998 and saw a handful of spinoffs and sequels including Baldur's Gate 3 which is currently available through Early Access. Now one fan of both Pokemon and Baldur's Gate has mixed the two, creating the ultimate RPG mashup.

A Redditor going by the name cometscomets took the first Pokemon game and gave it Baldur's Gate's UI. On the left side of the screen menu options using sprites from the original Pokemon Red and Blue can be seen along with the player's party on the right side. The bottom of the UI features the actions Fight, PKMN, Item, and Run, mirroring the commands that players had during battle in Pokemon games and even features a sleeping Pikachu in the bottom left corner that is meant to pause time. The artwork has an isometric view, which was seen in the original Baldur's Gate and helps drive the crossover home.

The piece that cometscomets posted is receiving a lot of positive feedback. Many users stated that they wish the crossover was a real game, with one mentioning that this it is one of the coolest things they have seen in a while. A commenter says that they would pay for such a mashup to happen, with cometscomets bringing up the fact that it would be easy to break up Pokemon into the different Dungeons and Dragons archetypes that the game's classes fall into. The art is amazing and is a great way to bring the two classic RPG series together into one incredible dream game.

Baldur's Gate is not the only RPG that Game Freak's series has been mixed with. An artist known as LostThingy combined Pokemon with Destiny 2, drawing Pikachu as Zavala, Ikora Rey, and Cayde-6. Each Pikachu was given an aspect particular of the character they were drawn as, which adds a nice little touch. This includes Zavala and his love for crochet, Ikora and her scholarly knowledge, and Cayde-6 eating a bowl of ramen. It is a pleasant crossover that led to some very cute pictures of Pikachu, bringing together two fandoms in three small pieces.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will release on November 18 for the Nintendo Switch.
