Three years ago, Bethesda made gaming history with the release of Fallout Shelter, its free-to-play mobile game where players can run their own vault. In honor of its release anniversary, Bethesda today announced that the game is receiving brand new ports to both the PlayStation 4 as well as the Nintendo Switch.

Just like when Fallout Shelter originally released released, gamers won't have to wait for this improvement. Speaking on behalf of the Bethesda teams, Todd Howard explained that both the PS4 and Switch versions would be available "tonight." Gamers should be able to download the game for free on either system as soon as they become available on the PlayStation Store and the Nintendo Switch eShop. At the time of this writing, it appeared that it was not yet available on either system. However, with the possibility of technical difficulties or the event running overtime, there's a good chance that Bethesda purposefully chose to have it put up a little later in the evening to prevent ruining the surprise.

Fallout Shelter has already released on a wide variety of systems, starting with iOS, where it received extreme praise. After what seemed like an excruciating wait for many, the game moved on to Android devices. The title did extraordinarily well on both mobile gaming platforms, despite the fact that it also received praise for microtransactions not being necessary to enjoy the game to the fullest. Given the popularity of the game, Bethesda continued to reach new audiences by bringing Fallout Shelter to the Xbox One and the PC.

Bethesda's plan to bring Fallout Shelter to the PS4 was unfortunately leaked prior to Bethesda's event, so the reveal was somewhat lackluster. With the slew of the games and loot the developer/publisher revealed, however, chances are there's a game on the list for every Bethesda fan, whether it's slated to come out this year or at some point in the future.

Fallout Shelter is now available for Android, iOS, PC, and Xbox One, with the PS4 and Nintendo Switch to join sometime tonight.
