Fans of Fallout Shelter, Bethesda's tie-in, mobile title that released shortly before Fallout 4, should be excited to find out that after some time of silence, a sequel of sorts is set to release in the west. Originally developed and released in China, Fallout Shelter Online hasn't left its home country, even after almost a year of success overseas.

The highly anticipated follow-up to Fallout Shelter has been announced to ship out worldwide, giving players a number of updated features to improve the game from the original title. This is the first announcement made worldwide since the original development of Fallout Shelter Online was first shown to the world almost a full year ago.

From the new 'What to Expect' video released by the developers, it looks like Fallout Shelter Online will be bringing new features like PvP and a brand new storyline to the mobile title. One somewhat controversial addition however is the addition of Gacha style monetization with a new Hero Card system, in an era where companies have been shying away from loot box style microtransactions. With everything new coming to the game, it's hard to tell how well the developers have kept Fallout Shelter's balance of giving rewarding gameplay with the option to pay for an enhanced experience.

The addition of PvP seems like a strange choice, as Bethesda has recently learned that many of the original Fallout 76 players never wanted PvP as a part of the Fallout experience. However, it is likely that the mobile market will have a better response to fighting against other players in the more relaxed setting of Fallout Shelter Online. Although, it's the new storyline that seems to have grabbed the most attention from potential players as they prepare to gear up their new shelters with a whole new reason to keep playing.

With the surprisingly charming Fallout Shelter having captured players' attention quickly as it launched, the upcoming sequel is sure to please players who may have stepped away from the game as development sloTwed to a crawl. Hopefully, Fallout Shelter Online will earn itself some of the same praise that Bethesda's last mobile title earned , with the game showing how good mobile titles could be at the time of its release. Although, players will have to see until they have the game in their hands, and on their phones, before they can see if the new features are the stark improvements they promise to be.
