Like other games in the series, Fallout: New Vegas features a sizable open world for players to explore populated by all kinds of interesting characters. And also like other games in the Fallout series, Fallout: New Vegas is stuffed to the brink with clever Easter eggs for fans to discover, some of which may go unnoticed by even the game's most dedicated players.

Reddit user Gluttonforcrime recently took to the GamingDetails subreddit to point out an interesting Easter egg found in Fallout: New Vegas that references the real-life crime couple Bonnie and Clyde. Fallout: New Vegas fans may remember the Vikki and Vance Casino located in Primm, with Vikki and Vance obviously meant to be the Fallout universe's versions of Bonnie and Clyde. However, the Easter egg goes beyond the surface similarities between the two criminal couples.

In Fallout: New Vegas, the Vikki and Vance Casino has been robbed by Pauline and Sammy Wins, a post-apocalyptic take on Bonnie and Clyde/Vikki and Vance. They have stashed Vance's gun in a safe, and if Fallout: New Vegas players are able to talk Sammy into it, he will give up the combination so they can retrieve the stolen gun. As revealed by Sammy Wins, the safe combination is 05-23-24.

Fallout: New Vegas players that don't bother trying to talk to Sammy Wins may never learn the safe combination, and even those that do learn the safe combination may not realize that it's a deeper reference to Bonnie and Clyde. As it turns out, 05-23-24 is also the date that Bonnie and Clyde died after the two of them were gunned down by Texas Ranger Frank Hamer and his posse.

History buffs may have picked up on this before, but this Easter egg may be a new detail to other Fallout: New Vegas players. In any case, it will be interesting to see if there are similar Easter eggs hiding in the possible Fallout: New Vegas 2. While such a game has not been announced in an official capacity, reliable sources have suggested that conversations have started at Microsoft about producing a Fallout: New Vegas 2 with developer Obsidian Entertainment once again given the reigns.

If a Fallout: New Vegas 2 ever happens, it will likely be years before it's even shown or anyone actually gets to play it. In the meantime, those hungry for fresh New Vegas experiences may want to check out the ambitious Nuevo Mexico mod that's in the works.

Fallout: New Vegas is out now for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
