If you’ve read our review you would know that Fallout: New Vegas was an extremely rewarding RPG experience that suffered from some extremely frustrating bugs. While some were able to bare them, others weren’t so lucky and ended up putting the game down for a while or were forced out of progressing.

Bethesda and Obsidian have rolled out a new patch for the game, available now for all consoles, which should address many of the issues players were having with the game.

In a posting on the official forum for Bethesda Softworks, Jason Bergman, senior producer on Fallout: New Vegas, points out areas that gamers should see improvements while also squashing a few rumors as to the causes of some “bugs.” One of the most talked about problems, the infamous spinning head in the opening sequence, turned out to actually not be bug-related but stemmed from Steam accidentally delivering incomplete files to consumers of the game. The scenario, while extremely hilarious, has since been eliminated once gamers re-validate their files with steam, but if you want to give your friends a good Halloween scare, wait until November 1st to update.

Another topic of note is the perks in Fallout: New Vegas. In Fallout 3, perks were awarded at every new level a player achieved. They consisted of new abilities like increased chance of hitting a target or stronger resistance to certain enemies. New Vegas only awards a new perk at every other level which had led to some confusion for some gamers.

Lastly, the developers want gamers to be aware that the many factions encountered throughout the world of Fallout: New Vegas will attack you if seen wearing the gear from a rival faction. New Republic of California forces to not take kindly to Powder Gangers or Caesar’s Legion strolling through their territory, so choose your get-up carefully.

Those gamers who might be encountering problems not addressed by the current patch should find solace in knowing that Bethesda has acknowledged other bugs exist and are working hard to fix them. For now, the game should run a bit smoother and gamers shouldn’t have to bang their heads on the wall as frequently.

Have you noticed any improvements after downloading the new patch for Fallout: New Vegas? Are there any problems you are still encountering?
