As many diehard fans of the game will know, this month marks the 10 year anniversary of Obsidian Entertainment's widely acclaimed Fallout New Vegas. Originally debuting on October 19, 2010, the game has enjoyed a fantastic stint in the public eye, quickly becoming iconic in gaming circles and going on to be regarded as one of the best Fallout games in the series to date.

To celebrate the RPG's tenth anniversary, New Vegasdirector, Josh Sawyer, has decided to host two charity streams of the game to raise money and awareness for the California Wildfire Relief Fund. The charity is a non-profit organization that raises funds for those affected by the Californian wildfires, with Sawyer even offering donors an entry into a raffle to win a physical Mojave Express patch based on those found in New Vegas.

The first stream took place yesterday and lasted over six hours, seeing Sawyer play through some of the early missions in the game while chatting about creative decisions made by Obsidian Entertainment. Sawyer is actually playing a modded version of the release, however, utilizing the JSawyer Ultimate Edition mod, which adds some much-needed patches and balancing correction.

It seems it was a great stream for long-time fans of the spin-off, with Sawyer covering everything from being disappointed he couldn't add post-game content to what he thought of Fallout 4's power armor. Sawyer had managed to raise a whopping $16,489 for the California Wildfire Relief Fund by the time the stream concluded.

At the time of writing, Sawyer is currently streaming again, meaning players looking to get involved with the creative director's mission to assist those affected by the Californian wildfires can lend their support now. The director will also be giving away five more Mojave Express patches every 90 minutes, so fans interested in acquiring the cool piece of Fallout: New Vegas merch can tune in and attempt to win it.

Spinning off from Bethesda Studios' Fallout 3, New Vegas followed a new story set within the Fallout universe, as a courier awakens from their attempted execution and must hunt down an invaluable package they were sent to deliver. Their journey soon becomes something much grander, however, seeing them join the fight between several factions to secure control of the coveted New Vegas Strip. The game has gone on to become a classic, with many heralding its freeform approach to player choice and RPG mechanics as a shining example of what a modern Fallout game should be. Obsidian went on to release a spiritual successor in The Outer Worldswhich launched last year.

Fallout: New Vegas is available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
