No matter how old they get, Bethesda games are the games that just keep on giving. With the boon in the modding community over the last few years, the publishing company's western-style RPGs are always given new life, and Fallout: New Vegas is no exception as fans continue to seek ways of extending play.

A new fan-made mod created by a small development team over on Steam are due to release "The Frontier" today (with an official release time set to 12pm PST) which is said to be one of the biggest mods ever made for Fallout: New Vegas. The mod has taken the developers, which consists entirely of fans, more than seven years to make. They even created a trailer in preparation for its release.

"The Frontier" is set in the snowy wastelands of Portland Oregon in which fans will get to decide whether to align with the New California Republic, Caesar's Legion or the Crusaders of Steel. It will have a ton of features to keep fans going for a long time, such as three brand-new main quest lines (totaling more than fifteen hours of gameplay in all), 150 new weapons, a driving system that allows players to take control of vehicles, not to mention additional voice acting. The clincher to all this is the mod is completely free with the only requirement being that players already have a copy of Fallout: New Vegas.

Fallout: New Vegas is arguably considered to be one of the most beloved installments in the whole series, largely due to its dark humor. Fans have been modding such games for as long as they've been around, and it looks as though "The Frontier" will sit up there with the best of them. The trailer alone is certainly enough to make fans sit up and take notice, and there seems to be more than enough new content to give them a new boost.

Despite it being released more than a decade ago, there doesn't seem to be any slowing down of the Fallout: New Vegas train. Basically, if you're a fan and you need an excuse to reinstall it, then it looks as though gamers can't go wrong by checking out "The Frontier." Anyone interested just needs to make sure they have at least 19GB of storage space, which, according to the developers, is likely to increase over time as they add more content.

Fallout: New Vegas is available to play on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
