While it was initially reported that Bethesda would be releasing their next DLC expansion for Fallout: New Vegas this month, it appears the title’s release has slipped from some time in June to July 19.

Titled ‘Old World Blues,’ this next chapter in the New Vegas saga takes players through the history of how some of the mutated monsters of the Wasteland were created.

After getting off to a rough start that was plagued with glitches and game-breaking bugsFallout: New Vegas began to find its second wind with its various updates and DLC content. Much like Honest Hearts and Dead Money, Old World Blues is meant to exist as its own self-contained episode with players completing the entirety of the mission within a research center known as The Big Empty.

Dead Money, the first of the DLC missions, was a clever little romp through a long abandoned casino that felt like a cross between Ocean’s Eleven and Saw.

Honest Hearts, on the other hand, asked the gamer to play mediator between several different arguing factions throughout the Zion National Park. Each had their strengths and weaknesses, but they showed Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment’s dedication to the property despite not meeting gamers’ expectations at first.

It might not be hitting during the time frame that was planned, but the important news is that Old World Blues is still on its way. With it players will finally get a little extra back story, not only on the happenings of New Vegas’ storyline, but perhaps the larger Fallout saga.

And then, releasing in late July and rounding out the DLC package for New Vegas, Lonesome Road introduces the character of Courier Six, the delivery man who refused the platinum chip that set into motion the events of the main game.

It has taken some time to get to the really meaty DLC for Fallout: New Vegas, but now that it’s almost here what’s an extra week or two?

Have you been keeping up with the DLC releases for Fallout: New Vegas? Would you be interested in picking up more DLC for the game after the announced DLC schedule completes?
