Fallout 3 was definitely one of my most engaging video game experiences of my life. I saved humanity (what little there was left to save) and brought a little light into the people suffering in the Wasteland. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to play any of the DLC expansions and will have to remedy that soon.
Luckily, announced last year, there will be a spiritual successor to Fallout 3 in the form of Fallout: New Vegas. That title alone can conjure up so many wild fantasies of life in the Wasteland version of Sin City and I can definitely say I’m very excited to see what that’s going to be like. Here are some rumored F:NV details:
– Similar to Dragon Age: Origins, at character creation the player can select from different background stories. The first few hours of the game are different depending on which background you choose, and you get some unique perks based on your background when the main game begins.
– One character background option is Lone Wanderer. This selection has no background story or template and is a complete blank slate for players.
– New Vegas has a coliseum run by a slaver gang called the Caesar’s Legion. You can gamble on and participate in arena fights.
Further details can be found here. Remember, these are merely rumors and do not, in any way, reflect on these as confirmed facts from Bethesda. A lot of the ideas seem cool on paper and I especially like the background stories (which I definitely enjoyed in Dragon Age: Origins), that can certainly add a bit more personality to your character and spice to the story. Or you can choose to forgo it all together and be that one wandering soul trying to make his way in the Wasteland. Either way, Fallout: New Vegas will be a game to keep an eye out on.
