Diamond City is called the "Great Green Jewel of the Commonwealth" in Fallout 4with survivors inhabiting what was once Boston's Fenway Park. Diamond City is one of the most populous locations in Boston, being a safe-haven for travelers and merchants to stop in at. Some facts about Diamond City are told to the player as soon as they enter, such as synths—except for Nick Valentine—or Ghouls not being allowed inside of the city walls.

Players who know a bit about baseball or history will be able to spot a few interesting things while they explore Diamond City. Despite being a hub for travelers and traders, Diamond City hides its fair share of secrets.

10 Faction Flags Can Be Found In City

Depending on who the player sides with at the end of the game, one of the factions can take over Diamond City. This will include soldiers patrolling the market and flags of the faction being flown in the city. It is interesting to note that the residents of Diamond City do not seem to mind The Institute in the city.

Perhaps it is because they have no choice or they realize The Institute is really there to protect them. It is fun to see how the choices made during the game can impact the Commonwealth and the people of Diamond City.

9 Diamond City Radio Host Can Be Replaced

Travis Miles is the host of Diamond City Radio, most likely being known for his pessimistic outlook and awkwardness as he hosts. What players might not know is that Travis can be killed by the player, causing a new host to be selected. This host would be Sheng Kowalski, the child who runs the water purifier.

When Sheng first starts hosting, he will announce Travis is dead and he is taking over as the host. Sheng can also be heard fumbling around, not knowing which button to press to keep the radio station up and running. The downside to this is there will be no more announcements about events in the Commonwealth.

8 Red Seat Can Be Found

Just like in the real Fenway Park, a red seat can be found in the stands. This is based on a real event when Ted Williams hit a home run in 1946. The red seat was put in to commemorate the longest home run hit at the time.

Ted Williams had hit the ball 502 feet, landing where the red seat is currently at. It's a fun little detail, showing Bethesda kept a little bit of the park's history in the game.

7 Can Score A Homerun

While it does not require hitting the ball, players can run the bases of Diamond City. The bases are numbers with Roman Numerals, making it easier to know which way to go. Diamond City guards can also give a hint to this, telling the player to run the bases for a fun time.

As soon as the player gets back to home base, they will earn a trophy. It's nice to know that the residents of Diamond City are keeping the old traditions of baseball alive, at least in one way.

6 Residents Do Not Know The True History Of Baseball

While residents might still run the bases for fun, there is a little proof that they do not know that much about baseball. If the player speaks to Moe Cronin, he will mention what baseball was before the bombs dropped. Moe will say baseball players use to attack and beat each other with baseball bats.

While it is only Moe saying that, residents will most likely look to him for the history lesson. It is sad to think the truth of baseball will be lost throughout the Commonwealth. The Sole Survivor is able to correct Moe and let him know what baseball was really like.

5 Deacon Can Be Found At The Entrance

Deacon is an agent for the Rail Road and a potential companion for the player. Deacon also has a habit of stalking the player, disguising himself to fit into a setting. This can be seen when the player first makes it to Diamond City.

Deacon can be found in Diamond City Security armor behind the cash registers at the entrance. This does explain how Deacon is able to know about everything the player has done up to finding the Rail Road HQ.

4 Bounty Boards Can Be Found

Players can find two different bounty boards in Diamond City. One is located in the Market Place near Swatters, while the other one is located near the entrance of the Dugout Inn. These quests are simple, having the player kill either a raider, Ghoul, or Super Mutant at a certain location.

These bounties serve as a good way for players to clear out locations and explore the Commonwealth a little more. It is also a good way to earn XP and loot valuable items from the dead.

3 Red Sox Had Big Losing Streak

There was a curse that involved the Boston Red Rox, which, in the real world, was said to have caused the Red Sox to not win a World Series from 1918 to 2004. In the Fallout timeline, it would seem this curse was never broken. Hints at their luck turning can be found on a terminal in the Boston Bugle.

It is mentioned in the first line of the terminal entry that the Red Sox had not won a World Series in 159 years. It was in 2077 that the team looked like it would finally achieve a victory. Sadly, the game was scheduled for October 23, 2077, the same day the bombs fell. It looks like the Red Sox will never win again.

2 Publick Occurrences Refers To First American Newspaper

Piper Wright is a journalist in Diamond City, owning the newspaper Publick Occurrences. Fans of history might recognize this name, as it was the first multi-paged newspaper in America. The newspaper was also located in Boston, being founded in 1690.

Sadly, the newspaper only published one issue before it was shut down. It was shut down by the British, much like what Mayor McDonough is trying to do to Piper. It is nice to see a little history reference in a city with a rich history.

1 Residents Celebrate Pre-War Holidays

Players who come to Diamond City when the in-game date on October 31 or December 25 might be surprised by what they see. Diamond City will be decorated for the corresponding holiday, either having Halloween decorations or Christmas decorations. It is nice to see the Pre-War holidays did not die when the bombs fell.

It is a nice thought to think the world might be going back to how it somewhat was after 200 years. Maybe the celebration of these holidays means the Fallout world will start adopting other Pre-War customs?
