A Fallout fan has discovered a set of band-aids that - strangely enough - have packaging based on the games. The Fallout series by Bethesda is quite popular, and has a number of different kinds of merchandise based on it produced both by Bethesda itself and others. The merchandise created for the franchise has included several strange or unconventional products, though few would expect to find band-aids on the list.
A variety of merchandise for Fallout has been created over the years that is not nearly as strange as this discovery, ranging from figurines to clothing to replicas of items from the games. Owing to the series' popularity, such merchandise can be found across the globe. Bethesda, Fallout fans, and other companies have all been known to create various items based on the series, whether for profit or simply as an homage to the franchise.
The fan in question, vyashole, showed off the band-aids in a post on Reddit. The band-aids, which are labeled as "Primeplast", for some reason, have the Fallout series' mascot Vault Boy on the packaging. Specifically, the packaging has an image of Vault Boy doing his signature thumbs-up pose.
In their post, vyashole explains that their father brought the apparently off-brand band-aids from India. That the band-aids would have Vault Boy on them is strange, as the company that produces Primeplast band-aids, Prime Medical Inc., does not seem to have any connections to the Fallout series or to Bethesda. However, some later comments made by vyashole state that Vault Boy's presence on the band-aids may be due to Primeplast's supposed nature as a knock-off of Hansaplast. According to vyashole, Hansaplast - whose band-aids are widely used in India - used to have a mascot in the form of a cartoonish boy making a thumbs-up, and the Primeplast band-aids shown apparently incorporated Vault Boy doing the same pose as a reference to this.
The fact that the Fallout series has somehow made its way into even band-aids seems to be an indication of the series' popularity and ubiquity. As was previously mentioned, this is not the first time unusual merchandise or real-life items connected to the Fallout series have been produced. However, this does raise the question of just what other kinds of real-life items have been created based on Fallout, and how far it could go.
