It's been both a strange and rough road for Fallout 76 since it launched back in 2018 between all of the bad PR, glitches, bugs, and other strange decisions. However, for fans of the franchise, the Wastelanders update remains a beacon of hope that the divisive online game can reclaim a portion of what people like about the franchise. With the release now imminent, Bethesda released a brand new launch trailer to give players a brief taste as to what to expect on day one.

The latest Wasterlanders trailer for Fallout 76 set the scene for why actual humans have returned to West Virginia, when up to now, the land has been desolate outside of robots and other creatures. As it turns out, someone released a broadcast indicating there was some sort of treasure buried in Appalachia, which in turn has brought plenty of folks back to try to get their hands on it. What people don't actually know however, is that there's a major scorched problem currently impacting the region, threatening to further infect the new arrivals.

The trailer also shows off many of the new factions that have set up shop outside of the random towns and homesteads that have also appeared including enemy factions like bandits and cultists. Bethesda has also promised a reputation system which will be affected by certain dialogue choices players can take with NPC characters. As such, players will have greater control on who they may want to betray or befriend in this new world.

Of course, the update also comes with a new main questline which can be picked up the moment the player starts the game from Vault 76 as well as new creatures to fight and gear to collect. Thankfully, even after the delays, Fallout 76 players won't have to wait too much longer as the entirely free update arrives next week on April 14 for all major platforms.

PC owners who want to experience the overhaul update on Steam finally have a way to do so without spending another dime on another copy of the game. Bethesda.net players simply need to go into their account and make sure to link their Steam account to their profile. Doing this prior to April 14, whether an existing or brand new account, will get a free copy of Fallout 76 on Steam. One thing to note is that Atoms and First Memberships won't be crossing over between each platform but any purchases from the in-game shop will.

Fallout 76 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
