The Wastelanders Update for Bethesda's Fallout 76 is now available for download. The update, which is by far the largest yet to be given to Fallout 76, is available for free.

Essentially serving as a complete overhaul of the existing game, the Wastelanders Update aims to fundamentally change the way players interact with this one and a half-year-old game. This is primarily achieved through the addition of the titular wastelanders, the game's first NPCs, which allow Bethesda to add dialogue options, followers, factions, and a main storyline to Fallout 76, all staples of most Fallout games.

The Wastelanders Update will add new weapons, and new enemies to use those weapons on, including the return of floaters, a variety of mutants not seen in the series since Fallout 2 back in 1998. More locations have also been added to the world of Fallout 76 alongside more quests and events to participate in. Finally, a new currency called Gold Bullion has come to the game, and a number of small changes and bug fixes have been made as well.

For players who prefer using Steam to Bethesda.net, it should be noted that Fallout 76 is now available on Steam. Owners of the game on Bethesda.net can receive it on Steam for free before April 28th, though Atoms and Fallout 1st memberships won't transfer, and anyone who purchases Fallout 76 on Steam before the same date will receive a bundle containing Fallout 12, and Tactics.

Fallout 76 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
