Bethesda continues its work on Fallout 76 via routine updates for the online multiplayer game. The latest update focuses on a variety of things, including account security, social features, and some interesting details about Fallout 76's now-over Fasnacht Seasonal Event. The new security feature is Multi-Factor Authentication, helping to put hacking worries to ease. But in terms of something exciting to try out, Fallout 76's new Public Teams might put smiles on a lot of players' faces.

Public Teams, as the name of the feature implies, are teams of players that are publically available to join. They'll allow Fallout 76 players to casually group up as necessary, whether it's for casual questing or a specific goal. Joining and creating a Public Team is an easy and fast process that will hopefully make playing the game without a dedicated party a much better experience.

To join a Public Team, players just need to open Fallout 76's social menu. There will be a new option there labeled Public Teams with a browsable list of all available teams. Each team has its own Team Goal, making its general-purpose obvious. So long as a Public Team hasn't reached its cap of 4 players, all its takes is a click to join. Public Teams can also be seen from the map screen, where team leaders can be clicked on and joined with ease.

To encourage players to form and join Public Teams, they'll be offering cool bonuses for those participating. For example, a Public Team with and "Events" Team Goal will build Bonds over time by completing events. Just forming a Public Team for events provides +25% bonus experience, but the more bonds form in the Public Team the higher the bonus gets. This is just a temporary bonus while in the Public Team, of course.

For now, there are 6 available Team Goals for a forming Public Team to choose from. These include Hunting, Events, Exploration, Building, Casual, and also Roleplay. Each goal provides a different type of bonus. Casual groups get bonus Luck, Building groups Intelligence, and Roleplay groups get Charisma, for a few examples.

Those worried that Public Teams will lead to the removal of standard, Private Teams don't have to fret. Bethesda confirms that these groups will still be available. Private Teams will also be able to switch between Public Teams and back, too. Private Teams also remain unique in some ways. Only Private Teams can build in teammates' camps and open teammates' locked doors and containers. Also, if a Private Team member joins PvP the whole group is flagged, while Public Teams will only flag the individual.

Public Teams will be a big addition in Fallout 76's Update 20. It's currently on test servers, but a final release date has not yet been confirmed.

Fallout 76 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
