Not too long ago, Bethesda released a patch that reintroduced old bugs to its online multiplayer role-playing game, Fallout 76, with players reporting that the title still had an item duping problem despite the company having aimed to fix it. Now, it looks as if the publisher and developer is hard at work to rid the action-RPG of this issue once and for all, as well as introduce fixes for those who encounter server disconnects.

Earlier this morning at around 9:00 AM ET, Bethesda took Fallout 76's servers offline in order to rectify these problems, with the company primarily planning to use this downtime to remove items that have been created through duplication exploits from player inventories and stashes. According to a post from the Bethesda Community Manager known as Valseek, "These removals are highly-targeted at a specific list of items," and those items should be removed from player accounts once maintenance is complete.

What's more is that Bethesda appears to be aware of issues related to Fallout 76 frequently disconnecting players from the game, so while the servers are offline it will be applying "a server-side fix to reduce the frequency" of the disconnects that players experience. It's interesting to note, though, that the publisher and developer uses wording that doesn't necessarily promise server disconnects will be eradicated altogether. Bearing this in mind, lost connections to the server could still persist, albeit at a smaller rate.

While it's good to see that Bethesda is tackling these issues, there's always the chance that unintended consequences will crop up within the game once this latest patch for Fallout 76 is applied, and thus bring even more problems to be addressed. As previously mentioned, with a prior update having revived issues once thought to be dealt with, one can only hope for the best in this case. Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see if this specific update for item duplications and server disconnects in Fallout 76 is a success.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
