The Fallout franchise has spent this month celebrating its 25th anniversary, and Fallout 76 is rolling out daily anniversary rewards along with a Halloween event to celebrate the spooky season. Fallout 76 players can engage in a variety of Halloween-themed in-game activities and earn festive rewards alongside the anniversary freebies.

The beloved Fallout franchise of RPGs has reached its 25th anniversary, having come a long way since the franchise began as a series of oddball post-apocalyptic isometric RPGs. The franchise has since expanded into sprawling open-world first/third-person RPGs and various spinoffs from the Fallout Shelter survival strategy game to turn-based Fallout Tactics. The franchise's latest development, Fallout 76, is the game's first attempt at bringing multiplayer into the Fallout universe. Despite a rocky launch that turned off players due to bugs, lack of content, and little NPC interaction, the game has made vast improvements thanks to plenty of updates and is beginning to make a comeback.

Fallout 76's annual Halloween Event is kicking off once again this year, bringing some spooky festivities into the Appalachian Territories from October 25 to November 8. The "Spooky Scorched" event will have players taking out costumed enemies around the game's world while looting Halloween treats. Players can dress up in their favorite costumes and engage in trick-or-treating by leaving a bowl of candy in their C.A.M.P. while visiting others. Players can easily identify participating C.A.M.P.s thanks to a pumpkin icon on the map, and both trick-or-treating and giving out candy earn progress toward Halloween-themed challenges and their respective rewards.

A new Fallout 76 update will also be arriving with the event, which will bring new items into the Atomic Shop that will be released over the coming weeks. Other than that, this relatively small update will resolve a number of bugs and kick off a Challenge event for the 25th anniversary. The following weeks will feature free Daily Mystery Items in the Atomic Shop, and players can complete Daily Challenges using the Mystery Item to earn further rewards. Completed Daily Challenges contribute to a Weekly Challenge that will unlock the Wild Mountain Rifle Range Prefab for construction.

Once the Halloween season and anniversary event are over, players can likely look forward to more seasonal festivities during Fallout 76's holiday event. In previous years, players could hunt down enemies dressed in holiday attire to acquire holiday gifts or craft their own presents. Interested gamers should also note that Fallout 76 is currently free to claim on Amazon Prime Gaming for the next seven days.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
