Whenever a game has a post-apocalyptic setting, players are bound to see some eerie locations. In the case of Fallout 76, there are very few locations that don't feel unsettling at all. From Mothmen watching players with their bulbous eyes to learning the backstories of failed Vault experiments, this game has spooks galore.

Even though Fallout 76 doesn't have the best reputation, the environment still does a good job of giving players the chills. After all, there aren't too many friendly faces or hospitable homes around. Here are the locations that can give chills to both fans and new players alike.

10 Point Pleasant

Finding any town in Fallout 76 can be ominous since you don't know what could be hiding in any of the decrepit buildings. Point Pleasant is one of those towns that hides a dark secret: the Mothman Museum.

The Cult of the Mothman pops up at a few different locations in Fallout 76, and learning more about them makes this location even creepier than any other museum. While the statue of the Mothman here doesn't resemble the creatures that players might face during their adventures, it can still give people an uneasy feeling. It might even be watching.

9 Gulper Lagoon

The Mire itself has an unsettling atmosphere, but the Gulper Lagoon is definitely not a place where players would want to let their guards down. Besides the presence of the gulpers themselves, which are huge lizard-like monsters, there are large trees that block most of the sky from view.

On top of that, gulpers can appear in these trees, and the water has bones floating in it. Players might not want to stop and wonder where those bones came from if they don't want to be the next set of bones in the water.

8 Bastion Park

Abandoned parks can be creepy on their own, but Bastion Park has its own additions that make it even eerier. Besides the run-down look of the playground equipment, there are also notes around the area that are connected to the quest "Baa Baa Black Sheep" that involves finding out what happened to a man who was looking for a Sheepsquatch.

They reveal that someone was burned to death at the park, and you have to find out how and why. The thought of this happening, especially at a park for kids, might make people think twice about where they let their children play.

7 Torrance House

While this location is filled with cool easter eggs that reference The Shining, the house itself and the references work together to make the atmosphere feel chilling. Players can find two skeletons in an embrace on the roof of the house, leaving a sad image of a couple facing the falling bombs of the Great War.

Plus, there are a few sets of blocks that spell different words, including "redrum" which fans will recognize from The Shining. Just be sure to get in and out of the house before the robots decided they want to start using axes.

6 Wavy Willard's Water Park

Similar to Bastion Park, abandoned parks of any kind already tend to be spooky. This water park is no exception, especially when you factor in that you might be attacked by radroaches or the scorched at any time. There are plenty of small buildings to explore, but that also means there are plenty of places to get lost or to get attacked.

If that wasn't bad enough, players will find a Miss Nanny robot who is looking for a boy named Freddy. This starts the player on a quest to find out what happened to the boy. An abandoned park that also has a missing child case? No thank you.

5 The Freak Show

Raiders used to have fun here, making an attraction that all revolved around seeing different Wasteland creatures in cages, along with other oddities. For players who visit the "show" now, the monsters that were still around have died, but there is still much to see.

Walking through this area will leave players feeling uneasy as they might not be convinced that everything in this area is actually dead. It's also creepy to see some of the other "displays" that the raiders decided to make with different bones and other Wasteland elements.

4 The Burning Mine

This mine isn't just creepy. It's also pretty dangerous. As the name implies, players have to navigate through fire while hopefully having protection against the toxic air that can kill players. The orange glow would be a perfect way to create more shadows to scare players if they could actually see clearly through the smoke.

The smoke makes it hard to know what's around and where to go, but on top of that, it makes it easier to get caught off guard by one of the creepiest enemies in the game: Mole miners. Their grunts just add to the panic that can come with traveling through this mine.

3 Kanawha County Cemetery

So many parts of this place can give players the creeps, like the shrines, the skeletons sitting in the church, or the implication that everyone in there died together by drinking rat poison. Not to mention that some people were killed by cult activity rather than poison.

As if being in a cemetery wasn't creepy enough, the Cult of the Mothman was here too, and they were performing human sacrifices at the altars they made. The cult might not be around anymore, but that doesn't mean that they can't still scare people that come across what's left of them.

2 Alpine River Cabins

While it turns out that all the scary aspects of this location aren't real, that doesn't make them any less creepy before players find that out. Players can find these cabins in the forest and think that things seem normal at first. After staying there for a little while, it's clear that something isn't right when doors close unexpectedly, screams ring out in the distance, and it seems like there are small earthquakes frequently.

A treehouse in the forest eventually reveals that all of these things are controlled by a computer, but one can't help but wonder how much of it was really fake.

1 Lucky Hole Mine

This one takes nearly all the creepy characteristics of the other locations on this list and combines them into one place. It as a dark, spooky atmosphere, mole miners, and cult activity. This mine looks like it was very important to The Cult of the Mothman since they set up altars, statues, and areas for sacrifices almost everywhere.

Notes from the cult can be found all over the place, and they are just as unsettling as one could expect. These notes talk about their sacrifices, their priestess, and cryptic notes about the Mothman that they worship.
