Although Fallout 76 is one of the worst user-rated AAA games in Metacritic history, talk of its lack of quality has been completely overshadowed by the current situation regarding Bethesda and false advertising. Since Bethesda's bait-and-switch involving a nylon bag has been publicized, the situation has spiraled out of control to the point where Bethesda is being investigated by law firms and advertising authorities worldwide. One of those authorities, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), has just responded to a complaint regarding Bethesda's use of false advertising.

For the past few weeks or so, Reddit has been a place for furious Fallout 76 Collector's Editon buyers to voice their anger, opinions, and support for legal action to be taken against Bethesda. Many Reddit users on the Fallout subreddit rallied together to not only explain why Bethesda should be fined but to also show how supporters can file an official complaint against Bethesda. Now that a few days have passed, one Reddit user has finally received a response from the ASA regarding the bait-and-switch. In its response, the ASA explains refunds, its decision, and how much authority it actually holds in this particular situation.

Being based in the UK, the ASA first responds by stating that it has no authority over specific ads that are on Bethesda's website, as Bethesda is based in the US. It suggests that complaints regarding Bethesda's website should be filed to the US-based Advertising Self-Regulatory Council (ASRC). Although it does not hold authority over Bethesda's website, the ASA notes that it can enforce legal action against UK-based retailers and ads such as Game Retail Ltd. The ASA continues by saying that it has taken the necessary steps to assess Game Retail by the corresponding Advertising Rules and that it is currently enforcing corrections of those ads. In terms of refunds, the ASA also redirects customers to contact the Consumer Helpline, as the ASA is not in the position to advise on such matters.

Although some may not find what they are looking for in the ASA's response, there have been plenty of organizations introduced by Reddit users in which they suggest filing complaints to. As the number of the cause's supporters grow with every new story - like how Bethesda is giving free bags to influencers - some form of legal action could be taken against Bethesda.
