One battle-obsessed Fallout 4 fan pits an army of 20,000 robots against the entirety of the Commonwealth, as the factions duke it out for supremacy of the Wasteland.

YouTuber and Fallout 4 fan Cosmic Contrarian is back with his first large-scale battle of 2016 for Bethesda's post-apocalyptic RPG, as a legion of 20,000 Generation 2 Synths and Assaultrons attempt to take over the Commonwealth and Minutemen settlements like Bunker Hill and Minutemen Castle. According to the YouTuber's calculations, creating the absolutely massive conflict was extremely labor intensive, as it took “somewhere between 80 and 120 hours of planning, recording, editing and applying post production to sound and visuals.”

Although the veritable war in the Fallout 4 footage is described as a fight between man and machine, the former has its own secret weapon for survival in the form of the giant democracy-defender known as Liberty Prime. Recent and long-time fans of Bethesda's franchise are undoubtedly familiar with the nearly skyscraper-sized automaton and its sheer power, and if they aren't, another relatively new video should give folks a crash-course in the robot's might, as 1000 Deathclaws battle 10 Liberty Primes.

As seen in the video below, the campaign is a long, sprawling struggle of epic proportions — the clip clocks in at almost 25 minutes — with Settlers, Raiders, Minutemen, and Brotherhood of Steel Knights all banding together to save the Boston Commonwealth and its iconic landmarks from destruction. Of course, rather than spoil the fun, fans should take the time to give it a gander if only for the intro, as it's reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' Battle of Helm's Deep, wherein innumerable Uruk-Hai orc descend upon King Théoden of Rohan and his people.

Should fans get a kick out of Cosmic Contrarian's Fallout 4 clip, they should be happy to know that this isn't his first attempt at staging all-out carnage in Bethesda's action-RPG. As it happens, one of the YouTuber's most popular set-pieces features 1000 Deathclaws versus 100 Brotherhood of Steel soliders.

While having different Fallout 4 factions attack each other simply for the sake of it is Cosmic Contrarian's bread and butter, the YouTuber has also experimented with including narrative in his creations. Several weeks ago, in fact, he put together a pretty solid alien invasion video that depicts a group of extraterrestrials beginning a planetary takeover in Diamond City due to peace negotiations breaking down between them and the humans.

With Cosmic Contrarian having contributed so much time and effort into entertaining fans for absolutely free, it would be understandable if he decided to take a break from making stuff related to Fallout 4 altogether. Thankfully, though, the YouTuber has promised to improve upon his already impressive body of work with even more content in the future. However, his latest enterprise will definitely be a tough act to follow.

Fallout 4 is out now and is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
