Fallout 4’s First Patch On PC Is Breaking Mods

By | 11 months ago

Fallout 4 receives its first patch for general PC players and users are now reporting that the update is breaking all mods associated with Nexusmods.

Bethesda has been busy addressing bugs since the launch of Fallout 4 and PC users who are part of the beta program have already received a couple from the developer. Content with how the patches have been doing for beta users, the first major update has been released for general PC users and unfortunately, a good majority of the mods have broken since the new patch went live.

For now, the PC version of Fallout 4 is the only one that supports mods and many users utilize Nexusmods, a vast database that also comes with its own launcher, making the process of switching between various mods incredibly easy. Since the PC update went live, a new Fallout 4 launcher was added, which accidentally broke the Nexus launcher and a few other mods as well.

Thankfully, fixing the mod issue is fairly easy by following these steps but it’s worth noting that this won’t fix every modding issue. Players should

  • Open Nexus Mod Manager.
  • Launch your game and wait in the launcher before starting the game.
  • Re-enable the mods using Nexus Mod Manager (you will notice launching disables them).
  • Hit play.

While the ability to create and use mods is coming to the console version of Fallout 4, PC users have been enjoying this feature since launch and already hundred of mods have become available. While many aim to improve the graphics and visuals in the game, some users have taken the opportunity to try to improve the technical details of the game like the framerate. For those looking for a bit of fun, there’s even a mod that turns babies into mini nukes fired from the Fat Man launcher.

Console players won’t have to wait long for their first update either as Bethesda recently confirmed that the first major update for Fallout 4 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be arriving later this week. For now, it appears that the majority of the fixes include a number of general memory and stability improvements. There are also a few fixes for wonkiness associated with a couple of quests such as Reunions, Confidence Man and When Freedom Calls.
