Bethesda reveals that some Fallout 4 mods on Xbox One have been stolen from their original PC creators and the developer is working hard to get to the bottom of it.

While mods can largely be a good thing for the lifespan of popular games, the modding community is certainly a work in process. Nowhere is that more clear than in the world of Fallout 4, where PC modders are reporting their work stolen on the Xbox One version.

With the release of mods for Fallout 4 on Xbox One, developer Bethesda has paved the way for fans to experience their game in new and creative ways. Yes, there are limits to mods on Xbox One, but some fan favorite Fallout 4 mods have still made the cut. Unfortunately, while some PC mods have made the jump to Xbox One, they have not all been transferred over by their original creators.

Since there are no paid mods available on Xbox One, and any Bethesda game for that matter (yet), this is less of a problem than it could be. Still, having someone take credit for another’s work is never acceptable, and the hope is that Bethesda will work to check the legitimacy of all mod submissions.

That isn’t to say the original mod creators wouldn’t want their work on the Xbox One, but we’re sure they would rather have made the jump on their own. Instead seeing one’s work appear under a different name has to be frustrating.

On the flip side, many of the Xbox One gamers who transferred the PC mods over to console claim to have done so specifically because the original creators refused to. Some have even gone so far as to call the original mod creators “lazy” for not transferring their work. It’s a complex situation and one that could mar the success of the console mods.

So far, Fallout 4 mods on Xbox One have been a huge hit for Bethesda, who report that traffic for mods on console was nearly 50 times what it was on PC at launch. Clearly there is some curiosity on the part of console gamers as to what mods can do to improve the Fallout 4 experience.

And improve mods can, in some really important ways too. For those who are curious what mods to download for Xbox One, Game Rant has put together a list of the best Fallout 4 mods on Xbox One. So make sure to check that out, but be wary that they may be removed if any stolen content is found.

What mods have you used on Fallout 4? Do you think that “sharing” someone else’s PC mod on console is okay?
