Fallout 4 Mod Patch Includes ‘Important’ Changes

Bethesda Game Studios officially reveals the contents for Fallout 4‘s latest patch update, including mod-specific fixes and other “important” changes.

According to a recent blog post, game developer Bethesda has officially released Fallout 4‘s 1.5.4 Update for PCs, and the studio states that the patch will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next week. As is to be expected, the Fallout 4 update applies general fixes for bugs, glitches and optimization issues to the game, but it also brings about improvements for mods, as well as “important” changes related to weapon and armor racks found within the post-apocalyptic RPG’s new Contraptions expansion, which is one of the first of three pieces of DLC added to the title during the summer of 2016.

As far as the refinements to Fallout 4‘s mods feature go, Bethesda declared that players have been given more space for text on the “mod details” page, with fans also now being able to use the Most Popular filter to choose between Daily, Weekly, and All Time. Furthermore, when it comes to the Contraptions fix, players won’t lose weapon and armor mods or Legendary status when removing them from the armor and weapon racks.

Bethesda also made note of another issue cropping up in Fallout 4, but unfortunately the open world title’s 1.5.4 Update doesn’t fix it. The studio said that the “Add Ons” menu in the PC version for the action-RPG is currently showing the upcoming DLC packages of Vault-Tec Workshop and Nuka-World as being available, even though neither have hit the market yet. The developer assured fans it’s working on a solution for that particular error.


All of the aforementioned issues aside, Bethesda also stated in its blog post that should fans wish to have a chance at being selected for Fallout 4‘s Mods Closed Beta on PlayStation 4, then the 1.5.4 Update will have to be downloaded and applied when released next week. However, the developer hasn’t confirmed exactly when the update will become available. For those interested, the full patch notes can be found right here.

Speaking of Fallout 4‘s console mods, the program for the PlayStation 4 is having a much rougher go of it than the Xbox One. As a matter of fact, not only is the mod size limit on PS4 much smaller than on Microsoft’s current-generation system, but also there is currently no sound file support, as well as the potential for memory and performance problems. Nevertheless, Bethesda claims it will rectify these problems by the end of the month.

In the meantime, Bethesda also has a lot more on its plate, with the studio having two new, unannounced games in the works, describing them as projects on the scale of Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Of course, taking all of this into consideration, fans probably won’t hear much more about them until the studio puts the finishing touches on all that it has planned for Fallout 4 this year.
