A couple of dedicated sci-fi junkies use mods to inject Mass Effect's N7 armor and its protagonist Commander Shepard into Bethesda's post-apocalyptic RPG, Fallout 4.

Should Fallout 4 fans wish to venture out into the dregs of the Wasteland with the confidence of a Systems Alliance soldier, they would do well to install Aydaptic's John and Jane Shepard mods, and Ruddy88's N7 Combat Armor mod, all of which are inspired by BioWare's Mass Effect series. While the skins and outfits are cosmetic for the most part, Sole Survivors will surely have an extra bit of swagger in their steps, especially since the characters' C for Charisma will be reset at 9 after installation of the Shepard mods.

Both of the Fallout 4 character mods have an optional save at Level 20 for players looking for a head start in the game, and the “Femshep” version can be used to replace Cait, while also having the potential to work in tandem with the male iteration of the mod after being recruited as a companion. As far as Ruddy88's N7 Combat Armor creation goes, though, it's a total standalone, as fans aren't required to install Aydaptic's mod in order to use it.

As seen in the gallery below, the mods are fantastic, and come as close to looking like Mass Effect's original assets without being complete clones. In fact, Aydaptic explains that the main reason John and Jane Shepard aren't exact replicas is due to them both having a "complicated face". That said, Fallout 4's character creation system is definitely highly detailed, but be that as it may, it can only do so much.

As seen above, with the combination of Fallout 4 energy weapons, Aydaptic's and Ruddy88's mods don't look out of place in Bethesda's action-RPG at all. In truth, they fit in with the retro-futuristic release's design and style quite well. And if anything, using them in the title could make the wait for one of the most anticipated video games of 2016 — that is, Mass Effect: Andromeda — a little easier.

Of course, this isn't the first time that Fallout 4 has had properties from other franchises modded into the game. In fact, not long ago, a player going by the handle Girl Plays Game created a BioShock-inspired Settlement by incorporating elements from Irrational Games' series to recreate the floating city of Columbia. Considering the crossover appeal of having Fallout 4 host stylistic features from different releases, this surely won't be the last instance of mods assimilating other titles' components into the game.

What do you think about Aydaptic's and Ruddy88's Mass Effect mods for Fallout 4? Does it make you want to see more video game-related characters outside of Bethesda's action-RPG make an appearance with fan-made materials? If so, which ones? Let us know in the comments below.

Fallout 4 is out now and is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
