While gamescom 2017 has been host to several substantial reveals – Final Fantasy 15's director teasing a Nintendo Switch version is an exciting prospect for many, for example – Bethesda has decided to share some rather sizable details for some of its games just ahead of its own annual summit known as QuakeCon. As it so happens, the publisher and developer has decided to reveal the release dates for its three forthcoming virtual reality titles Fallout 4 VR, DOOM VFR, and Skyrim VR.

The earliest launch in the aforementioned lineup of Bethesda's upcoming games is Skyrim VR, as it launches on November 17, 2017 for PlayStation VR. Following its release, DOOM VFR drops on December 1, 2017 for PSVR and HTC VIVE, while Fallout 4 VR hits store shelves last on December 12, 2017 for HTC VIVE. While the majority of fans have to wait to get their hands on these titles, those lucky enough to be attending QuakeCon from August 24, 2017 through August 27, 2017 will be able to give them a go before they go on sale later this year.

For those unaware, Fallout 4 VR, DOOM VFR, and Skyrim VR were all showcased earlier this year during Bethesda's E3 2017 press conference, which delighted virtual reality fans, but caused many to express grief over the company's decision to dedicate such a huge portion of its keynote address on titles that technically already exist. Of course, those who thought the publisher and developer was guilty of rehashing its wares for the VR market were likely most disappointed by the fact that the event lacked any major surprise reveals such as a confirmation for The Elder Scrolls 6.

Taking all of this into consideration, it will be interesting to see if Bethesda goes on to state sometime down the line that Fallout 4 VR, DOOM VFR, and Skyrim VR will eventually be available for platforms outside of those announced today. Even if the company doesn't, however, virtual reality games on PC are typically cross-headset compatible, so it would be quite possible for mods and hacks to start appearing shortly after the games' respective launches to make them playable on an Oculus Rift.

Fallout 4 VR is slated to release on December 12, 2017 for HTC VIVE, DOOM VFR has a launch date of December 1, 2017 for PlayStation VR and HTC VIVE, and Skyrim VR will come out on PlayStation VR.
