One of the Fallout 4 developers has been discussing the game's release party, revealing that a life-size model of the Mr. Handy robot nearly had to be taken down when someone said it was too scary. As one of the most notable butlers in modern gaming, Codsworth is the first Mr. Handy servant, indeed one of the first NPCs outside the player's significant other and baby son, that fans encounter in the fourth game, though most would not consider the automaton to be frightening. With Fallout 4 coming to current-gen consoles soon, there will likely be renewed interest in the 2015 post-apocalyptic game. While it's generally not seen as the strongest entry in the long-running RPG series, it's still a solid installment, introducing base-building mechanics for players to create their own settlements. As a franchise, there have been a lot of classic characters, many of which have been a part of the game since the start.RELATED: Fallout London Mod Removes Ghouls Based on British Royal FamilyMr. Handy is one example, although it looks as though someone did not take kindly to the robot. As spotted by GamesRadar, developer Nate Purkeypile recently tweeted about a Mr. Handy that was on display at the Fallout 4 launch party. An attendee asked that the model be taken down because it was scaring their friend. Purkeypile says that, because the party took place in LA, it's likely that not many people knew much about Fallout, so the sight of a large tentacled robot butler was evidently too much for at least one person.

Being a part of the series since the first game in 1997, Fallout's Mr. Handy was canonically introduced in the year 2037, built for maintenance and to perform tasks. In the fourth game, one of the robots is a part of the player's household before the nuclear war devastates the land. Many fans were amused to discover that Bethesda had put in some secret names that Codsworth would utter, including swear words. So if the player called themselves "f**ker" or "f**kface," the robot butler would refer to them as such, with much hilarity.

For many reasons, the Fallout franchise has gone down as one of the most celebrated post-apocalyptic series in gaming, becoming a mainstay in the AAA sphere since Bethesda took over in 2008. With the studio now working on a fifth game, fans will be looking forward to where things go from here, especially after Fallout 76 left many disappointed.

Fallout 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
