Fallout 76 is just around the corner with a Beta test expected in the next few months, but for those unable to wait, a modder by the name of SKK50 has created just the thing: a tongue-in-cheek imagining of the upcoming multiplayer experience recreated in Fallout 4.

Before anyone gets too excited, the mod doesn't bring full multiplayer functionality to Fallout 4 - such a feat would be pretty impressive for a lone modder to accomplish, especially considering that even Bethesda took a long time to make multiplayer function in Fallout 4's engine. Instead, the mod is a humorous portrayal of some of the worst fears fans have about what Fallout 76's gameplay experience might look like.

The most notable change SKK50 made to the game was to lower the NPC count, removing 95% of rural and 80% of urban citizens of the Commonwealth. This is aimed at recreating Fallout 76's lack of NPCs, with the game instead choosing to issue quests through discovered locations and terminals. A demo of SKK50's (even more) barren Commonwealth can be viewed below.

The majority of the humor in the Fallout 4-76 mod comes from the addition of hostile "griefers", which are intended to simulate other players in Fallout 76 whose sole purpose is to repeatedly kill everyone around them to ruin their gameplay experience. The griefers, who have names like L33T PWNZ BOSS, serve to reflect the fear of many fans that Fallout 76's intended role-playing will instead just devolve into mindless killing.

The final notable feature of the mod is regular nukes which will drop down on the player after only a "minimal getaway warning."  Sometimes, however, no warning will be given, which SSK50 jokingly explains is a product of the B.E.T.A in which "your player deaths are helping to debug and tune the product." Fallout 76, incidentally, does not feature nukes that can be used to kill other players (instead they are used to create high-level environments) but their implementation in the mod is funny enough to excuse the inaccuracy.

Perhaps in anticipation of angry Fallout 76 fans, SSK50 was quick to explain that the mod was just intended as a light-hearted joke. He stressed that he pre-ordered the game as soon as the option became available, and is "looking forward to exploring the new world and game play [sic] mechanics." Fallout 4-76, then, should be appreciated by those who are looking forward to Fallout 76 just as much as those who are not.
