When video game companies are too busy to work on a certain project or idea, sometimes fans take it upon themselves to make it a reality. Such is the case with the Fallout 3 remake mod called Capital Wasteland, which is being put together by the Road to Liberty mod team. The Road to Liberty mod team has since released a new trailer for the project, which shows off Fallout 3's improved visuals in the Fallout 4 Creation Engine.

The Fallout 3 remake consists of a completely rebuilt Capital Wasteland, and will feature every quest, line of dialogue, and location reworked into Fallout 4's Creation Engine. Road to Liberty's goal is to update the Fallout 3 experience to modern standards, and if the first trailer is any indication, it seems like the team will do just that.

Once the Road to Liberty team is finished with the Fallout 3 remake mode, they plan on turning their attention to the game's expansion packs. That means those that decide to download the mod should be able to look forward to remade takes on Operation AnchorageThe PittBroken SteelPoint Lookout, and Mothership Zeta at some point down the line.

Of course, that will entail a lot more work on top of all the hours the team is putting in to remake the gargantuan base game. However, there's a chance the team could be compensated for their efforts. It's possible that the Road to Liberty team will benefit from the new donation system being implemented by Nexus Mods later this year that gives fans the opportunity to donate money to modders if they so wish.

Regardless of if the team makes any money from the mod, though, at least their hard work will likely be enjoyed by many people. After all, Fallout 3 is often considered one of the best open world games of all time, and this remake gives fans the perfect reason to return to the Capital Wasteland yet again.

Fallout 3 is available now for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
