Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout became a cultural phenomenon in the world of gaming following its release last year. The game's lighthearted take on the popular battle royale genre was an instant hit with players of all ages and the title became a favorite of many popular streamers across multiple platforms. Fall Guys was a particularly popular title on PlayStation where the title was prominently featured as a free title with PS Plus. Now, the title has secured its place in the record books.

Devolver Digital and Mediatonic released Fall Guys to monumental success in August of 2020. The game's simplistic platformer take on the battle royale combined with a charming artstyle helped the game soar to the talk of the industry throughout the rest of 2020 and into 2021. Popular streamers like Timthetatman became household names within the Fall Guys community and the multiplayer title would feature crossovers with major gaming franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog and Doom. The game broke records for both PlayStation Plus and Twitch with the game now earning a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Fall Guys official Twitter account announced that Fall Guys has officially been added to the Guinness Book of World Records as the most downloaded PlayStation Plus game of all-time. Fall Guys actually set the record in August of last year, weeks after the game's initial launch, and now the game will be featured within the popular record-keeping books. Mediatonic had previously revealed that the Steam version of Fall Guys had sold more than 11 million copies within four months and the game boasted over 8 million players on PlayStation 4 in under a month.

Beyond the game's success on the PlayStation, the title has gained widespread recognition across the world of gaming for its addictive gameplay and has fans begging for ports to other platforms. Mediatonic confirmed earlier this year that Fall Guys would come to Xbox and Nintendo Switch, though the ports were delayed after being previously scheduled to release in Summer 2021. Mediatonic has also confirmed that cross-play is currently in development for Fall Guys with the expectation that it will launch with those ports.

Fall Guys celebrated its first anniversary last month and, while the game isn't as widespread as it was following its release, Mediatonic clearly intends to continue supporting its flagship title. Fall Guys continues to collaborate with many popular gaming icons like Ratchet and Clank and Among Us and kicked off its fifth competitive season in July with a new jungle theme. The massive success of Fall Guys has cemented its place within gaming history and Mediatonic has shown its iconic bean characters aren't going anywhere.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available now on PC and PS4, with Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S versions currently in development scheduled to release later this year.
