The start of Fall Guys Season 4 has reignited player excitement for the multiplayer platforming and party game. But it's not just the addition of seven new Fall Guys rounds, daily challenges, and Crown Shards to make Crown collection easier that has brought back players. It's also the addition of Squads Mode, which allows groups of up to four players to take on other groups. It's apparently so popular that Mediatonic has confirmed that it's no longer temporary -- Squads Mode is here to stay.

Mediatonic shared the good news via the official Fall Guys Twitter account early Friday morning, noting that it updated it on April 1 but decided to reshare the news to confirm it wasn't a meme. The tweet says that Squads Mode is remaining as a permanent part of Fall Guys going forward due to the community's continued support of it and the overall positive response.

Squads Mode is a new feature added with Season 4 of Fall Guys in late March. It allows groups of up to four to join into a match together, where they'll compete against other squads as a group. The team element of the mode has added a competitive element to the experience previously unavailable, especially since random elements can impact the solo Fall Guys experience rather heavily.

It's easy to see why Mediatonic might be incentivized to retain Squads Mode, too. According to Steam data scrapers, the start of Season 4 of Fall Guys has seen its highest player count of 2021. Further, it appears to be retaining players much longer than with previous seasons. Squads could help that trend keep going, so it's no surprise Fall Guys is going to keep it.

Fall Guys is available now on PC and PS4, with Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X ports coming in 2021.
