It's honestly kind of surprising that it took until Fall Guys' fifth season to eventually add content from Ratchet & Clank. As a PlayStation 4 console exclusive, Fall Guys lends itself well to crossovers with Sony's most popular properties. And while they may have missed the arguably more appropriate space/future themed Season 4 (which added Among Us characters to the game), the iconic duo will be joining Fall Guys as unlockable outfits later this week.

The costumes will require some legwork to acquire, however, as players must complete a series of challenges first. Plus, these will only be available for a limited time and are split into two separate events. The first, the Ratchet Limited Time Event, requires players to obtain 3200 points from challenges to unlock the full Ratchet costume, plus some additional cosmetics. It will run from July 26th to August 1st.

The second is the Clank Limited Time Event and, obviously, offers the Clank costume and other related cosmetics. Just like the other one, players need 3200 points to unlock everything, and it runs from August 6th to August 15th.  And if both events are completed, players will also be awarded a banner featuring Rivet from Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, who sadly doesn't have her own Fall Guys outfit.

It makes a lot of sense to add the two to Fall Guys given their popularity, and Mediatonic's lead artist, Rob Jackson, admits in a PlayStation Blog post that, when picking guest characters, one of the defining factors is whether it'd be really cool or not. He also takes time to praise the Ratchet & Clank series for its ambition and art direction.

The two skins had actually been leaked earlier in the month, and it's looking very likely that they won't be the only PlayStation all-stars to be turned into beans. The same leak included the likes of Sackboy from the LittleBigPlanet games and a couple of characters from the upcoming Kena: Bridge of Spirits, including the titular protagonist.

Mediatonic promises Season 5 will feature even more unlockable costumes and limited-time events, as well as six new Rounds and some fixes to make for a smoother experience. As for the Xbox and Nintendo Switch releases of the game, there is, unfortunately, no update on that front. They were initially planned for a summer release, but Mediatonic was forced to delay them. While it's unfortunate that non-PS4 and PC owners have to miss out on limited content, it's worth remembering that skins like the Ratchet and Clank ones would likely have never been made available on the Xbox and Switch versions anyway.

Fall Guys is available on PC and PlayStation 4.
