Since its release, Fall Guys has become a major success for publisher Devolver Digital. Already being a major success with the game crossing 2 million players on Steam, Fall Guys is seeing an incredible amount of support from the PlayStation 4 player base as well.

As reported by data-tracking site, gamestat, Fall Guys has seen well over 8 million players on the Sony console since its launch earlier this month, making the game a tremendous success reminiscent of the mega-hit Rocket League in 2015. One key factor in the incredible amount of reach the game has had is its inclusion in this month's slate of free PlayStation Plus games for the month of August, along with another major hit, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.

The launch of Fall Guys has been so successful that the servers for the game had considerable issues keeping up with the player base, resulting in several outages. Though the issues seem to have resolved with a bit of forced downtime and back end work, developer Mediatonic apologized on Twitter to all the players affected by the issues and gave away a legendary Fall Guys skin to all players who played the game before August 13. Included in the give away is 5,000 Kudos, the currency used to buy skins, patterns, and emotes.

Fall Guys apologizes for servers

Fall Guys' popularity is not without its drawbacks, with PlayStation 4 and PC players sharing their successes and failures on social media, but two substantial player-bases have been forced to watch from the sidelines. Both Nintendo Switch and Xbox One owners have voiced interest in the game across the Fall Guys social media platforms resulting in a response from the developer. Though it is not currently available on both consoles, developer Mediatonic has stated that ports are being considered and fans may see Fall Guys on Xbox and Switch at some point, but the current focus of the small team is stability and support on PC and PS4.

Meanwhile, the success of Fall Guys has resulted in many other developers, publishers, and unrelated brands to contribute to unique concept art and costumes for beans on social media. The social media presence of the game is so dominant that even Konami got involved, tweeting a Metal Gear Solid themed bean. The game seemingly has big plans, as Mediatonic has stated that along with new skins, mini games, and seasonal content being developed, the developer wants to add cross play to Fall Guys in the future, which is great news for those looking to play with their friends across all platforms.

Fall Guys is available now on PC and PS4.
