The massively multiplayer game that tosses up to 60 players together in a free-for-all brawl to victory, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, has proven to be a hit right out of the gate. Since its release on August 4, Fall Guys has experienced server congestion that has led to difficulties in joining a match or even logging on.

Developer Mediatonic has been working hard to alleviate the server stress, but the record number of players trying to enjoy the game has resulted in new issues even as old ones are fixed, causing the developer to release an apology on Twitter.

According to the post, the game will be moving into a maintenance mode so that long-term solutions can be implemented. In the meantime, Mediatonic thanked the Fall Guys playerbase for their support despite these launch hiccups and promised that, once the game comes back online, extra goodies will be made available as a reward for players’ understanding and patience.

Fall Guys' release coincided with its debut as a PlayStation Plus title for August, which undoubtedly increased the number of players eager to try out the new title and jump into the fray. On Steam, Fall Guys got review bombed due to the technical issues. Despite this, on both Steam and PS4 the feedback from players has been extremely positive.

In the game, players take on the role of jelly beans who must make their way through chaotic obstacle courses, trying to outpace hordes of other players and come out as the victor. The matches switch between hectic free-for-alls where it’s every jelly bean for itself and cooperative play with teams of beans working together.

Fall Guys was released on August 4, 2020, and is available on PC and PS4.
