For now, the Marvel spotlight remains focused on WandaVision. However, come March, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will have some pretty large shoes to fill in place of the MCU’s most charming couple.

That’s not to say The Falcon and the Winter Soldier lacks its own appeal, as the miniseries should unveil whether it’ll be Sam Wilson or Bucky Barnes who takes over as Captain America for phase four of the MCU now that Chris Evans has pretty much retired from the role. Additionally, the Disney Plus series could potentially tie up other loose ends that may be lingering since Avengers: Endgame.

With The Falcon and the Winter Soldier only six weeks away from premiering on Disney Plus, promotional material for the series is beginning to surface all over the internet and the latest comes from Topps trading cards, who shared some artwork via their MARVEL Collect! app. The first of these digital collectibles is Baron Helmut Zemo, released today, with the rest set to follow in the coming weeks under the promotional tease, “Who will wield the shield?”.

Though there’s not much to look at with Sam Wilson, as he dons his now established look. However, Bucky Barnes, Baron Zemo, and Captain America stand-in John F. Walker's outfits are all certainly more eye-catching. The Winter Soldier looks less edgy than he ever has considering he'll now be working directly under the command of U.S. forces while Zemo can be seen sporting a more cartoonish outfit, ski mask and all included, that’ll surely make him stand out. Lastly, Walker is wearing a less skin-tight Captain America uniform just like shown in the trailer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

So far, even Anthony Mackie has dispelled any rumors that he will indeed be the next Captain America by the time The Falcon and the Winter Soldier begins, even as some action figures could have already spoiled the outcome for the show. Though Marvel Comics history actually makes a decent case for the Winter Soldier to wield the shield, Mackie remains the clear frontrunner.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be available on Disney Plus starting March 19, 2021.
