With The Falcon and the Winter Soldier set to arrive at Disney+ this coming March, Marvel Studios has released some new images from the show to add to the excitement. While the images mostly show on Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes in various scenes, one image, in particular, appears to confirm the arrival of a key character from Falcon's comic book lore.

Pictured on set with Mackie and director Kari Skoglang is Adepero Oduye, the newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Widows actress has previously been linked to the project; however, there have been few reports on which role she will play and what significance her character will have in the overall story. That said, many fans believe they know exactly who she will portray in the series, based on their knowledge of Falcon's story.

Sam Wilson has a sister named Sarah who regularly appears in the Marvel comics. Created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan, Sarah made her Marvel debut in 1971's Captain America #134. In the story, Sam came to Sarah's side to help her and her son after her husband, Mr. Casper, had tragically died. While it is still unclear what Marvel has planned for Sarah in the series, some reports claim that her role will be significant and that Oduye will play Sarah in all six episodes of the show.

According to the official synopsis released by Disney, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will follow the events of Avengers: Endgame, after Captain America had handed over his shield to Falcon. Joined by his ally The Winter Soldier, the superhero duo will set off on a global adventure that will ultimately "test their abilities and their patience."

Fans are curious as to what Marvel has planned for the plot. With Captain America no longer in the picture, many believe the series will set up Falcon as his successor; however, in some Endgame scenes, fans noted that the Falcon appeared to have some reservations when he was given the shield.

Both the Falcon and the Winter Soldier were affected by the Thanos snap in Infinity War, so there's a chance that the series will explore their lives when the two returned after five years. There are also reports that Don Cheadle's War Machine and Georges St-Pierre's Batroc The Leaper will make appearances in the show. Fans will just have to wait and see for themselves when the series drops in a couple of weeks.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set for release on Disney+ on March 19, 2021.
