Wube Software's construction and resource management game Factorio has been in development for 8.5 years, and has enticing a huge fanbase with increasingly complex mechanics that add onto the satisfaction of building massive, automated factories. Today it released version 1.0, leaving early access like Hopoo Games' Risk of Rain 2 did recently.

The official community update on Factorio's website describes a "special" atmosphere over the last week, and thanks its fans for years of support, including paying into an IndieGoGo campaign in 2013 and filing 18,855 bug reports, as well as creating over 5,000 mods and organizing events. Factorio is already considered a great game by many, and there are "not too impactful" additions to version 1.0 outside of creating a special vehicle with lots of functions to celebrate.

This occasion is marked more by the formality of being able to say the game is complete, according to the community update. Version 1.0 was originally planned to release on September 25, 2020, but the developer announced it was releasing Factorio early to avoid Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red's highly-anticipated AAA game.

Though the developer said no content was being cut or postponed due to the earlier release, Wube Software still has plans to fix relevant bugs in the PC title and fill "the most obvious gaps in our existing feature set" with version 1.1. The milestone release has also been marked by an updated trailer based on a video from 2014, and the team announced it will be stopping its weekly Friday updates.

Factorio is available now on Linux, Mac, and PC.
