The Game Awards 2021 are coming, promising a night dedicated to celebrating games and the things fans love about them for streaming services all across the planet. The show has grown an impressive amount in recent years and has had some major moments, such as the first reveal of Elden Ring or Joker coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. High production value, solid nominations, and great premieres have helped The Game Awards to become a massive event in its own right, even surpassing the Oscars in viewership.

While many are waiting to see what game of the year nominations will be announced for The Game Awards 2021, many are also holding their breath over what premieres and sneak peeks fans will be given. Many are hoping to see Elden Ring or Perfect Dark return to the stage, but one that seems like it could be possible is the next Fable game. Announced in the summer of 2020, Xbox has said very little about the reboot of its classic RPG series, but it does seem possible that The Game Awards could change that this year.

Why Fable at The Game Awards Would Make Sense

As far as whether Microsoft would use The Game Awards 2021 to give more information on a title as big as Fable, there is a precedent that points toward the answer being yes. Xbox has participated in premieres at The Game Awards quite a lot over the years, including announcing The Coalition's new Perfect Dark title, that Among Us was coming to Xbox systems, and various other reveals for crossovers and Xbox Game Pass additions. Fable is primed to play a big role in Xbox's future, and the history of its cooperation with The Game Awards makes the show a great place to reveal more of the game.

Further support for its possible appearance comes from two different sources. The first is Xbox's official statement that Fable will arrive before The Elder Scrolls 6. Bethesda is releasing Starfield next year, so The Elder Scrolls 6 is likely still a number of years away, but this timeline does mean that the company will likely want to start showcasing the game soon to start building hype. Xbox's Twitter account also accidentally teased a big announcement earlier this month that pointed toward more news coming about Fable. While the tease was walked back, it seems likely that it could have just been posted earlier than intended, with the teases meant to help lead up to The Game Awards 2021.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the new Fable title, and the release of more information regarding it will be a big deal. The series still has a dedicated fanbase years after their last release, many of whom love the Fable games for their unique fairy-tale take on an action RPG that includes plenty of humor and an interesting world. Hopefully, if The Game Awards doesn't give players a new look at Fable, that will happen somewhere else soon.

The Game Awards 2021 is scheduled to take place on December 9.
